Cheers I’ll give them a watch and no, I will not be entertaining any thoughts of skirmishing in those sorts of temperatures.  I’d frankly have doubts even were I in a real conflict quite frankly.

I’ve got the later DE stanags and some GM Pmags.  My old Bulle chest rig has internal M4 pouches so I tend to put them in there when it’s cold.  Although the Pmags are rather brilliant at resisting any attempt to warm them up thanks to the polymer shell.

 
I don't think we even get those temperatures anymore. The guy is Finnish though so he probably goes skinny dipping in ice lakes for fun.

Generally metal body mags will do better because they pull heat in better. Having internal mag pouches helps a tonne for that.

GM PMags basically have to be warmed up with the shell pushed out of the way, which isn't particularly practical.

 
In addition to keeping mags warm or less cold as well as using higher pressure gas, you can also use lighter weight bolts and carriers. Every gram you can save in the BCG makes cycling easier.

I've finally gotten round to revisiting my MWS L119A1 build that I started but never finished. First thing is a 10 inch barrel, which I've sourced from 5KU, however whilst it fits the receiver the barrel nut is far too tight. I guess I'm going to need an AEG barrel nut?

Dimensions below. Anyone had any experience with this barrel/nut combo? Ideally I'd like to use the existing rail/delta ring etc, although given the size difference I'm guessing new parts might be needed... IMG_0461.webp
 
i have a stock mws but what performance upgrades should i buy
+1 on the return spring and Rubber, they're pretty much the only upgrades we need here in the UK

Other things you might need are a NPAS (FEDA or Jaeger precision afaik are the best) for power adjusting, and a new buffer with shifting weights only if you experience issues related to bolt bounce (I did with my DE MWS, not sure if its an issue with TMs). Only other thing I've needed was the Jaeger ZET plate because I had issues with bolt lock. But that's it

HRC says that alot of aftermarket barrels require an AEG barrel nut, but its inconsistent. Diddn't see any discussions about what the 5ku barrel specifically needs, and i dont have any personal experience with it, sorry.
