Agree with @Rogerborg - I don't think on the surface any of his products are overpriced. The SSP1 is EUR 135 (£122 at today's ROE), comes with a steel hammer, steel trigger, upgraded hop bucking and a case. Plus if you leave it in your cart for 48hrs they e-mail a free shipping coupon. They also sell enough spare parts to build one from scratch.

HOWEVER His team use "continued development" as an excuse for releasing a flawed product.

I just don’t get why you need to spend so much to get a good shooting rifle. As a ‘sniper’ I’d be expecting him to be selling an AEG aimed at good range and accuracy, not gimmicks.

ive got a JG g36c sat gathering dust that my brother used to use. Cost £90 from Taiwangun. Fitted a maple leaf rubber and gave the barrel a clean and it would shoot better than a standard NGRS. Is it Gucci? No. But it does what you want from an airsoft gun. Shoots better than the guy shooting back. 
 

if I was gonna build a ‘high performance gun’ of that sort of budget it would be ICS based and modular.

you can get a lot out of nominally budget guns, jg these days in particular seem to be pretty bloody good, i've worked on a couple of their ak's (including one i own) and for the fundamental task of lobbing plastic downrange they punch well above their weight.

now granted an e&l or lct is gonna look nicer, feel nicer, and be able to take a few more knocks without damage, but it won't shoot much better.

I'm not excluded from this but I've seen severe "FOMO" from many airsofters. 

"I need to get my AEG shooting 349.9FPS and 60 RPS at least 100 metres?"........no you don't mate, use tactics to push closer to the enemy. Pick your shots and just have fun, rather than thinking the idea is to build the most intimidating "weapon" possible in order to make-up for your shortcomings.

In a YouTube video I watched, they point out that Novritsch's team state that they allow for a 20% variance in power. Which is typical of my experience with them and their loop holes. I say that because adding to basket you get to choose 1J or 1.13J, then if they send the wrong one, yep you guessed...they're both within 20% of each other!

I agree it's a shame that the company grew too fast for them to handle properly everything that goes with it, and they are trying to push to many products at once because i did like the concept of the original SSG24, a bolt that shoots good enough out of the box. As someone who learned how aggravating it can be to take apart your JG bar 10 about 10 000 times to get it right and sink in it 3 times the cost in upgrade parts.

And i think those youtube channels are good because they bring us new players, and we should be taking the time to welcome/educate them on what airsoft is supposed to be and what fun it can be for everyone. That's right, i will not buy his product but i think he is good for airsoft.

Let me strongly disagree with that.

On one side, yes they do bring more people into the sport.

But let's be honest? what kind of people do they attract?

All these channels (KM, Nov, Silo, Wag, Cleanshot) do is showing the bad side of airsoft, so cheating, calling out, arguments, pain fetish. If I were "new", by watching those videos I'd think that most airsoft players are a bunch of cunts who only cheat and get salty, when in reality it's the complete opposite.

I've seen it in my club. Last year we got some new kids (13/14yo) who, on their first game, were already calling out people for supposedly not taking their hits, when in reality they weren't even close to hitting their targets (yep, good luck hitting someone at 70+ metres with 0.2s, stock guns and 1J limit). Turns out they became interested in airsoft because they watched Noobritsch and Licking Cumstain.

So no, those channels are NOT good for airsoft, they cater the wrong people and show a distorted reality.

Plus Nov's just trying to sell more of his shit through false advertisement.

thing is, doing it yourself might be a chore, but it's a learning experience, and once you've got to that level by putting in the hard work you're going to be in a position to maintain a good gun because you'll know what needs to be done.

whereas a new guy just yanking a gun out of a box isn't going to know any of that, sure it might shoot well for the first while but then the barrel gets clogged, groupings open up, and the inexperienced owner hasn't a clue how to fix it.

One of my grievances with many airsofters and their YouTube channels results in their portrayal of the sport/hobby. While there are those who provide a better representation than others there are a significant number who seem to pursue views and likes regardless of the potential damage. My argument has always been that these people are the public face of the hobby and as such they are diplomats for it.

A point of consideration is how many aspiring airsofters have had the idea firmly stepped on by their parents as a result of parents going to YouTube to try get an idea of what it is that little Timmy is interested in this time. I wager by simply searching for "airsoft" on YouTube that you're likely to be faced with some of the most disgraceful examples of the hobby available.

While I think social media and YouTube can be positive platforms, we see on a daily basis how toxic and cancerous these platforms are when they're misused and abused.

Is there a moral and ethical obligation to portray the sport positively? Not by any means but these high profile YouTubers need to be aware of what they are putting out there. Sadly, like many people, I suspect that ethics and morality fall by the wayside once money is involved.

this is by no means an isolated opinion.

i sometimes hear arguments such as "so and so isn't as bad in real life" or "that's just edits to make it look like he's doing [insert example of poor sportsmanship here]"

problem is as you say it's the impression that's being communicated to an otherwise ignorant audience, meaning at best we get people with a false sense of what's considered acceptable behavior on a site, or at worst we're losing out on players who think that's what the hobby is like.

@SkaraI get what you are saying, and i understand it is frustrating but i disagree. As a new player i got really pissed off at the cheaters until it got pointed out to me that no, i was just out of range. Some player took the time to explain to me the range, how to set the hop up, explained to me that you dont always feel it with all that stuff we know, but i didn't know then and that probably contributed to me continuing to play. 

@Adolf HamsterIn my case, i now stay away for teching my replicas, and i went back to aeg i'll do the hop/barrel assembly, but the rest, i prefer to go see a good tech, ends up costing me less money and aggravation and i dont mind helping local business.  ? ( i get that it is nice working on your own stuff, but i prefer spending the tech time on my road bike)

Yeah I will clean barrel and do bit of oiling but anything else I let stepson do it lol.

That way I can sharpen my chisels and general tool time.
