38super Posted Sunday at 18:03 Share Posted Sunday at 18:03 I'm looking to build a pew for IPSC competition shooting. (Not for skirmishing) Must be: GBBR Semi auto only Accurate as possible to a max of 30m 2 joules maximum energy Needs to have enough energy at 30m to punch through a cardboard target or knock down a small plate. Currently looking at a TM MTR-16, putting in a 400mm tightbore barrel, green gas and bb's around .40 for the downrange energy. Apart from replacing the nozzle return spring what else might I need to do to it? TIA
GiantKiwi Posted Tuesday at 13:59 Share Posted Tuesday at 13:59 There is no out of the box semi only MWS, so you'll have to modify the selector to remove the cam that engages the auto sear. 2J might be a stretch, even with a 400mm inner barrel. You will probably need to replace the TM nozzle with a Guns Modify 3.5, use Guns Modify PMags along with that, as combined they have a better seal and thus higher output. Obviously, you'll also want to get an NPAS if you somehow end up going over so you can adjust the output - Jaeger Precision or FEDA, almost all others are flat out junk. You'll also probably need to look at a moving weight buffer and stronger buffer spring to eliminate bolt bounce, which will happen, as the TM's especially are not designed to be run with that high of an output. You'll want an archwick PH+ adjuster for better adjustability with a laylax hop arm to be able to even lift 0.4's. There is one aspect of TM's that is entirely incompatible with AIPSC - the trigger is by far and away the vaguest of any GBBR, break and reset are barely discernable. It can be somewhat rectified by replacing the trigger box with an adjustable one like toxicant makes, but they're also unobtanium at the moment. Anonymoose Posted Tuesday at 14:41 Share Posted Tuesday at 14:41 (edited) What about using a GHK on CO2? My 553 on CO2 can put out 4j without the NPAS. Edited Tuesday at 14:41 by Anonymoose

I'm keen to find out what one of these can do. If I can get the downrange energy I need under 2J I'll be happy. The GM mods are probably sensible anyway since TM mags are impossible to find at the moment. The MTR-16 arrived today so I'll be running it stock to begin with and see what I need to do. I'll probably start with the semi only mod and take it from there. On 27/05/2025 at 15:41, Anonymoose said: What about using a GHK on CO2? I run mine with an NPAS so i can run it at 1.1j. Using CO2 and NPAS will make it very consistent, more so than the various canned gases. The GHK Sigs also have a handly little catch to lock them to semi only.
