Old original G&G L85a2 - What can be done to it?

Hi!

Inherited a G&G L85a2 that has stood in my brother's garage for years. It does fire with the ebb in both semi and automatic fire, I haven't got a chronograph unfortunately and I am using 2 adapters, the guns fuze and extension coupling connected to an 11.1v 20c battery.

Current plan:

My idea is to replace the motor with a spare SHS high torque one, install a Perun AB++, ML macaron + omega nub, ZCL) barrel and some spring that brings me between 1.6-1.7J, resolder to deans. I'd also like to do anything that can improve trigger responsiveness both with the mosfet and perhaps something more mechanical, I have one idea about padding the triggerbar, somehow. The idea is to get it performing on the level of my cyma platinum. I'd like to try the EBB for at least one game and then make up my mind whether to keep it or disable it. So a 200-300€ budget.

Problems:

However, rubber o-rings have started to fray and compression is lacking, it's just very old. I'm not some experienced tech and taking apart/assembling an aeg is maybe the height of my skill and knowledge and I follow youtube tutorials religiously. The piston is the first black, one-piece version without an extension and the gears are also black (see pictures) I mention this because the teardowns I've seen are different from mine. What's compatible? What parts work? How would I get perfectly sized o-rings? Would I need a specificly long nozzle with an o-ring, would a sorbo pad be necessary for X..? It's alot. Some might be obvious to you but it isn't for me, please let me learn if that's the case. I've still yet to understand what the gearbox lever inside the magwell does.

Am I taking on more than I can handle or wish too much? You don't see too many spare parts for it available, atleast in non-Uk webshops. All help is appreciated!

I haven’t worked on a G&G L85 for a very long time, so will let others with more experience respond in detail.

The lever in the magwell releases the spring tension; doing so at the end of a day’s play will help preserve the spring.

Piston head and cylinder head O rings are available from https://www.ak2m4.co.uk, although I am

not sure if he posts internationally.

I’m in Sweden and it’s the norm here 🙂 Semi is generally 2.3J
