"You cannot create new adverts because you reached the maximum number of 10 allowed adverts for your group per week"

Good moaning chaps

Does anyone know what this means please? "You cannot create new adverts because you reached the maximum number of 10 allowed adverts for your group per week"

I have not added 10 new adverts but it has put me on the wait bench (which I think is all a good idea by the way and I understand it is here to stop spamming, retailers etc.).

I cannot create new adverts, because I have reached the maximum number of 10 allowed adverts for my "group" per week...I have 6 live adverts, 2 complete and 2 uncomplete. Maybe I am misunderstanding something (it happens a lot as you get older)🤣 So is that saying:

  • I can only have 10 adverts of a certain group as in "10 for gear" and "10 for AEG's" - well that doesn't seem to be the case (but that is how it reads to me and maybe it alludes to a time when this was the case?)
  • Or is it saying that I am the group and that it should just perhaps read "You cannot create more than 10 new adverts per week"?

In an ideal world, maybe it could do with a timer on it too to indicate when the next advert can be posted. A more sophisticated system might even use a token system that assigns 10 per profile with a simple message upon creating any advert telling you how many more advert tokens you have left before you reach the limit. I understand though that this bit of my enquiry is more feedback/suggestion based so the first part of is what I am really interested in here.

I want to make it clear that I am not having a pop, but I like the thought of being able to contribute to the improvement of the forums I treasure if possible - or find out if I am just being a bit thick! :D

Do you have old adverts that are marked "Completed" but not removed? That was what happened to me a while back, I had a bunch of old "Looking for" ad's and had reached the limit without knowing there was a limit!

Hi mate, I do have those and tend to keep them open for buyers to refer to if need be - just before the item arrives. But even after using the "hide" option, the message still comes up. Maybe its because the post is only hidden and not removed per se. Not sure. ðŸ¤” I am guessing this does mean that there is basically a 10 advert limit per week which resets at a certain point.

If I remember correctly, the forum restricted max number of adverts to 10 per member (all types - sales, swaps, wanted).  This was to stop retailers, those members who are serious collectors acting like a retailer, and spam.  A normal airsofter would not need to have more than 10 adverts active, likely only having a couple of adverts per week.  Each advert lasts 7 days, you can see how long it has been running, if all 10 slots are used you have to wait for one to expire before you can create a new one replacing it.  There is no need for a timer, the adverts already have one which shows how many days and hours it has left to run.

The "group" part does seem superfluous.

Hi, thanks for the clarification. Yes, I think it is a good idea to have a limit and 10 is fair.

Yes, the group bit is confusing - changing it (if possible) would remove the superfluous nature.

As for the timer, yes you are right about that. I have just realised that you can access all of your adverts by clicking on your profile name and scrolling down to "My Adverts"! :D

Cheers
