I think vfc went with 4.5mm pin so that people can still use the vast airsoft aftermarket stocks. The aluminum mag helps with thermal transfer, which helps the mag to recover from cool down and allow a massive gas capacity. It's a trade off with realism and I think it's worth it.

The 4.5mm pin makes sense, as does the mag but it would have been nice if they'd of kept the realism that VFC is arguably known for. Simple things such as the incorrect flash hider, the oversized gap of the stock, the lower handguard being made incorrectly (Which in turn is a weak point) and missing the albeit fake rivet - Things a certain crowd really likes. Their point of "If you're a collector it's a problem, but if you use it to play it's not" is accurate.

Well as promised I grabbed someone elses impulse buy. Just took a little longer than I expected.

First impressions are it is fairly light. At least until I slapped the zenit stuff on it. Even now my tokyo marui akm with a steel kit on it is a fair whack heavier than this is. The finish is a thick plasticky paint to the point that I had had to check with a magnet to sooth my paranoia of being bunged a cheap ak in a vfc box XD.  I took apart the mag and greased as shown in the explosive enterprises video and the kick is very nice. Hop performs great right away without ever touching it. Im getting exactly the same peening on the left side of the bolt carrier as shown in the EE video so they haven't changed anything there. The hammer barely seems to move on firing. It never touches the back of the carrier. It almost reminds me of an mws hammer moving just enough to press the valve. All feels solid and im more of a shooter and tinkerer than a collector so the small inaccuracies dont bother me. Snagged 3 more mags in a sale and waiting for them to arrive.

Aeg zenit handguard went on but required some filing around where it sits in the handguard retainer, side rail went on no problem.
