UCAP Bunker - Wednesday 10th December

Afternoon Gents,

I'm going to be in Portsmouth next week for a course and fancy visiting a new site, the Bunker on Portsdown hill have a game running on Wednesday evening so I figured that was as good a site as any.

 

Any one else from the forum going? or fancy coming along to show me round etc?

Hey JC, sorry pal, I might be able to make the 17th, but don't get back to UK till the 13th. Enjoy! It's a pretty good venue, quite dark so a good torch and spare batteries are essential! And it's a bit of a maze so it'll take you a while to get your bearings! But at least it's laid out in quite a straight forward grid!

Being purely CQB, if you really wanna clear the rooms? it's Pyro all the way baby!

Got a sack full of BFGs and some night vision ready, should be a good evening :-)

Not so sure if NVGs will work so well down there. You have a mix of lighting, some of it is quite bright and the rest is 100% black. The lighting stops your eyes from fully adjusting to the darkness and many of the fights are one side in the light and the other in the darkness (defence usually in the dark). You may find the NVGs are flooded just like your eyes are. It seems the way you succeed in the bunker is you shoot where you expect the target to be, simply knowing the site is what it takes.

will try it both ways, in the dark sections they'll definitely work.

Not gonna lie, the night vision is a double edged sword in that place, I found the marshalling to be very good and the majority of the players to be decent... but there were a couple of people who thought that because it was dark no one could see them blatantly ignoring hits. Frustrating to say the least, especially as I think there's a special place in hell reserved for those who say things like "take your hits".

 

I did lose my cool a little bit with one guy who I shot in the face (he was wearing a full-head mesh thing) 5 times, only for him to return fire with a full auto sweep of the corridor a second later, I may have blurted out "are you fucking kidding me?" after I called my (several) hits, to which he took umbrage and started shouting shit like "are you questioning my honesty?!".

A few incidents like that really soured my opinion of the place, and the marshals really can't do anything about it as they're just as blind as the next man in the darker corners, I wasn't likely to ever go back as I'm only in portsmouth for a course anyway, but a few people's behaviour really put me off.
