All weapons have pros and cons (ignoring the manufacturers for now) - M4s are usually covered in RiS rails, G36s are light weight, AKs look nice, etc... Camo wise, wear what you like the looks of, and whats practical. You could go full British Army of 2005 in Iraq load-out, or you could go Special Forces, Mercs/PMCs and the like.
