Rylesy
Hey Guys I recently brought a G&P M16A3 without the M203 attachment (brought it 2nd hand) http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/G/P/GP298_MARK3.jpg Having my first game with it just under a week ago I want to attach a M203 to it, however being fairly new to airsoft I'm not 100% sure exactly what brand or type of M203 to buy or how to fit it to my M16A3. Is there anyone out there who can give me a rough idea of which type to buy and how it would fit onto my M16? Also as a side issue - is there anyway for me to attach a light/laser sight on the side of the gun with it not having metal rails just plastic? Thanks in advance for taking the time to read or help me out guys, I appreciate it greatly. Regards Rylesy
RR01
You can't add an M203 with that front handguard. The standard type is this: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/accessories/grips-handguard/aeg/gandp-m203-upper-handguard-for-m16-long-version-black.html The M203 is usually barrel mounted underneath and this style handguard covers the mounting points. You can get some M203 types that connect to a RIS rail under the standard type handguard, but they may not be as well fixed as the correct type. Have a look here for ideas: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=M203&cat=
Rylesy
So if I replaced the front handguard with the M203 top handguard you linked, and then found an M203, I would just need to remove the lower handguard & attach it from there? RR01
Basically yes, you replace the OE handguard completely. There is no bottom piece on the correct handguard, as that is replaced by the M203. I had a G&P M16 / M203 combo in a swap a couple of years ago and it was a really nice gun, but very heavy to carry all day and the M203 shells were not that effective over any great distance, about 20 yards at most. You'll need to factor in all that extra weight if you are going to carry it around all day, as well as the extra 40mm grenades.
Supporters Liam Porter Posted September 7, 2013 Supporters Share Posted September 7, 2013 Have you actually tested whether or not the launcher will fit on with a standard handguard top? I'm pretty sure it will to be honest. With an M4 handguard, you can remove the bottom and put a 203 there instead, and the M16A3 handguard comes off exactly the same as an M4 handguard. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, although it may look a little silly?
