Hey, I'm new to this whole thing, so I just wanted to ask a few questions. :)

Would i be allowed to fire an airsoft gun at targets in my back garden?
(i live on a street, houses on either side and a park behind)

How do skirmish games work? what happens? teams?

Can anyone give a rough estimate at the cost of rentals?

What sort of things would i need to take / buy for a skirmish?

Me and a friend are hoping to meet up and have a go, sounds like a really fun hobby!
The community also looks great!
Thanks :D

Welcome and you would be able to shoot in your back garden, just be carefull that the bbs dont go into the park beside you! Skirmish games work as teams, but it vairys from site to site. The rental prices will vairy as well because of the guns they have and what they give you with it, it should say on the skirmish sites website. Finally if you are renting, you dont need to take any equipment just bring some food and lots of water. I think i covered everything you asked but if you have any more question, feel free to ask. :)

How big is your garden and the fences? It is worth telling your neighbours that you will be shhoting in the garden just to avoid any problems. If you tape a traget onto a shoe box or wine box then a lot of the pellets will be caught in the box (so long as you hit it). How many go through both sides of the box will depend on the fps of the gun and the distance you shoot from.

Games will vary from site to site but generally two teams and a variety of settings - one attac king another. You may have a mock village or kill house scenario. Have a look on you tube and you will find some videos of games - airsoft ed has posted a few.

Rental prices seem to vary between abot £15 and £25 including face protection, camo overall and some pellets - some sites include lunch in the price. Where abouts are you based? Guys on here can tell you which sites are good.

Welcome to the forums :)

In terms of how games work, if you have done paintball before it won't feel too dissimilar. The games will be different and last longer but it's still typically team vs team with a certain objective.

How big is your garden and the fences?

44ft by 28ft (13.4m by 8.5m), fence is 5m tall.

I live in Macclesfield, Chesire. (without regular access to a car)

Never played paintball, but I'm guessing the game objectives are straight forward :)

Also, thanks for the warm welcome and answers, its so helpful having a friendly community :D

Thank you, 'Trojan' looks quite good and easy to get to.

Can i just ask how 'dying' works in the skirmish games, you get shot, you go to a deadzone, wait a certain amount of time, then return to the game?
also, can i become registered with UKARA while under 18? (then have to wait a year before getting an RIF :/)

You have to be 18 to be UKARA registered im afraid, but you can get a junior site defence, as its illegal to buy a RIF/IF under 18 your parents would need to buy it you anyway, as for the "dying" bit if you get shot, you raise your hand and shout "HIT" then walk off with your hand up so the other team dont shoot you lol, you walk back to your sites regen point and your back in, unless its a defending game were defenders only get 1 life and attackers have unlimited, all sites vary, my advice would be book a rental day and see if you like it before you pump any money into the hobby as it becomes very expensive very fast, also if you get a two-tone your allowed to add camo tape to it, but your not allowed to paint it.

All the best!

Dave

That's what I did, I bought some camo tape to cover the green on rifle. Then just remove it after games. Best thing for two tones xD
