Morning Matt. I too am new to Airsoft. Only got my UKARA and Pro loadout started a couple of weeks ago…

I can however share with you my experience having spent a LONG time researching what I would buy when I was thinking of a scope or sight.

All reliable UKARA registered sites like patrolbase.co.uk, wolfarmouries.co.uk, landwarrior.net etc etc all offer the products you will want. But at a premium.

However, I looked at what I wanted in store Eotech 552 Holographic which they retailed at £99 and got it from eBay when I was sure I wanted it at a Buy It Now price of £45 + £4.95 P&P.

Now I'm not saying do this. It has its pro that its cheaper. But should it fail I'm sure I have no warranty as such whereas if you build a rapport with your local armoury, they will do their best to look after you and your custom.

Hope this helps to some extent.

And best of luck fellow newcomer! :)

Just get a cheap and cheerful 3-9x 40 scope, they're the sort of airsoft sniper scope standard.

You can get one for around £30 and it'll more than do the job you need, I think I saw one on WolfArmouries a few days ago, if you have a gunsmiths near you though, I'd go there and pick up an air rifle scope, they're no different. Make sure you get mounts to fit 20mm rails though. Air rifles generally have 11mm rails.

Thanks guys I think the w700 sniper does have a 20mm rail and I was looking at a 40x40 for now as I'm only shooting in the garden for now as I'm waiting for several spinal operations so cannot attend skirmishes yet sadly.im in Leicester so don't realy know of any gunsmiths near my way realy

40x40? I assumed it was a mistake the first time you typed it.

The first number, or range of numbers is the zoom of the scope, so in 3-9x 40 the '3-9x' bit means that the zoom is variable, between 3 times zoom and 9.

The second number, the '40' is the size of the objective lens, that's the front part. So a 3-9x 40 scope has adjustable magnification of between 3 and 9 times zoom and has an objective lens with a diameter of 40mm.

A 40x 40 scope would have a zoom of 40 times, which is more that was used to make the longest kill shot EVER at 2800 or so metres, which was done with only a 25x scope. It would also cost literally thousands of pounds, maybe even tens of thousands. The 25x zoom scope that the British Army use cost approximately £3000 a piece if you were to buy one on the civilian market.

In short, whatever scope you're looking at is either terribly labelled, or you're quoting it wrong. If you search for what I said 3-9x 40, it'll bring up a load of options that you can get from loads of places, some of which will be around the £30 mark, maybe even less.

I've quoted it wrong or I've been looking at sites in the USA which work in diffent numbers but either way my mistake and I feel rather dumb now lol.but a 3-9x40 sounds good any recommendations on where to buy one from asy budget is not to big as I've spent a lot of time in hospital which means I have no income.or better still is there a half decent sniper rifle out there that comes with a scope for around £100

You're going to struggle with only £100, if you want a sniper then you're looking at around £130 minimum, plus the scope.

I'd recommend this, it's worth pushing the budget for: http://www.actionhob...lack_AXV0R.aspx

Additionally though, to really be any good all snipers need upgrades to make them accurate at long range and punch further than the regular rifles most other people will be packing, to get the rifle shooting nicely you're going to have to invest around £150 - £300 or more into it to get the internals up to scratch. Airsoft sniping is the most expensive way to play if you want to be a true sniper. You need to buy heavy ammo to get the most out of the gun, you have to buy the upgrades and you need to know what you're doing with it all.

The most commonly seen guns are the second hand market are two tone snipers, because people new to the game think sniping sounds like great fun, but then once they've bought one they find that it isn't as clear cut as they thought and it takes a lot of time and money to get a good gun out of your initial purchase. It seems stupid that snipers aren't good enough to snipe with right out of the box, but that's the way it is.

You'd be better off playing with an AEG until you've learned a bit more about airsoft and played a few games. Get your UKARA sorted out and thing like that too.

Ah you have kin of put me off buying a sniper rifle now I simply wanted one to mess around in the garden with to get used to it.and my plan was then to upgrade it at a later date when I no more about what I'm dealing with

Well it doesn't hurt to have one for the garden, you'd still be able to use it at skirmishes, it'd just put you at a slight disadvantage.

If you just want a back garden plinker then you may as well just get an air rifle if you can find a place close enough that sells them. Much more bang for your buck with an air gun, better accuracy and more destructive power lol.
