Hi guys,

I'm new to airsoft and can't wait to dive in!

I've been doing my research and learnt a lot but I still have a few questions I'd like to ask before I get started playing.

1) For my first gun, I was thinking of getting the Warrior L96 in Two Tone from here: http://www.geniestuff.co.uk/airsoft-sniper...01-two-tone.htm ..... Would this be a good choice? I enjoy being a sniper, it's something I've always wanted to do if I joined the army. Some people advise not to go as a sniper if you're a beginner because I might get bored... well, I don't mind waiting around for a target to appear if thats what they mean but if anyone can elaborate on this then that'd be great.

2) Do other players frown upon Two Tone guns?

3) With me being a noob and all, would I look silly turning up on my first go with a Sniper Rifle? Especially in Two Tone?

4) Would I be able to cover my gun in this tape: http://www.airsoftworld.net/web-tex-camouflage-tape-dpm.html... when I get to the skirmish? I don't really want a bright green gun in a battle... I'd feel kinda silly.

5) What gear is required for a skirmish? I know protective eyewear, a gun, ammo and boots is essential but anything else?

6) Do I need specific camo? Or I can wear any camo I choose?

7) When I get UKARA, I'm thinking of wearing all black camo and buying this RIF: http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/G-G-GR16-R5...Body_AZK4G.aspx would this be a good choice?

8) If I bought a pistol does it need to be in Two Tone as well?

9) My birthday is coming up in a couple of months, would I be able to bring a group of 10-15 mates to a skirmish? And would they be able to hire all the gear needed on the day?

Thanks guys, appreciate the help :)

Hi. Welcome to the wonderful world of airsoft. Say goodbye to your savings :)

They get pretty good reviews, but to set up an airsoft sniper rifle properly you usually need to do a lot of expensive upgrades to get the range/consistency you want. Out of the box they tend to be OK, but range/accuracy will probably be no better than someone running around with AEG. I'd recommend trying sniping before actually getting the gun!

2) Do other players frown upon Two Tone guns?

Personally no, but others see them as abominations!

3) With me being a noob and all, would I look silly turning up on my first go with a Sniper Rifle? Especially in Two Tone?

See answer 2 ;-) They do look a bit silly though!

4) Would I be able to cover my gun in this tape: http://www.airsoftworld.net/web-tex-camouf...tape-dpm.html... when I get to the skirmish? I don't really want a bright green gun in a battle... I'd feel kinda silly.

Yup

5) What gear is required for a skirmish? I know protective eyewear, a gun, ammo and boots is essential but anything else?

Some sort of load carrying to carry your stuff around, otherwise you'll have a bottle of BBs rattling around in your pocket. It'll also give you somewhere to carry water if you're playing in 30c heat if this weather keeps up. flecktarn.co.uk do some very well made and cheap kit. http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/sdtmb6nx.html

6) Do I need specific camo? Or I can wear any camo I choose?

Anything you want! That's part of the fun :) I've played with/against people wearing everything from exact WW2 "Band of Brothers" kit, to SWAT gear to jeans and T-Shirt!

7) When I get UKARA, I'm thinking of wearing all black camo and buying this RIF: http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/G-G-GR16-R5...Body_AZK4G.aspx would this be a good choice?

Again, they get good reviews. All black is OK, but for woodland I'd go with good old British DPM (cheap) or look at other woodland camo. Black tends to stand out a bit!

8) If I bought a pistol does it need to be in Two Tone as well?

Until you get your UKARA number - yes! Why not just wait and get a black one???

9) My birthday is coming up in a couple of months, would I be able to bring a group of 10-15 mates to a skirmish? And would they be able to hire all the gear needed on the day?

I'd have thought most sites have enough kit to accommodate a group like that, but you should book in advance to be sure! You can get away with just turning up if you have your own gear, but rental gear is always limited.
