Hey guys, I have got a KWA KM4 SR10 (M4) and the internals are pretty solid however I feel like I need more range or something. Two people I play with have a scar-h and M4 (custom) which both have stupidly awesome range. Not normally an issue for me at my normal sites but others I have visited recently it is.

What options do I have for internals upgrade? Scope/grips etc not really bothered about, I like minimal setup's

Things I am considering

- 11.1V 2600 20C LiPo (KWA website says it can run on 11.1v 15c)

- Tightbore 6.03mm barrel, Currently has 6.05mm does 0.02mm really make a difference?

- New spring? Only firing around 250fps at the moment

As far as tightbore barrels are concerned, it's not diameter you need to consider, but barrel quality. A standard JG barrel is a tighbore 6.03mm, but a tokyo marui standard of the same length and 6.08mm diameter would have better accuracy and consitency as it is of higher quality. I recently upgraded my SRC M16, to 350fps and a new barrel. It was doing around 250fps the same as you, all that was needed was a new spring (m100) and air nozzle for the gearbox. This brought it up to 310fps. A new hopup chamber and rubber improved consistency and range considerably. I was still only doing around 320fps, a little soft for woodland skirmishes at my site. An airsoft tech preached to me about the wonders a quality tightbore will do for range and subsequently I bought a madbull barrel. This increased range and fps to 350fps. KWA have high quality barrels stock, but smaller diameter will increase fps. I suggest you do the same as I did:

Quality barrel

M100 spring

New hop chamber

New hop rubber

New Air nozzle

To be honest, Systema springs are not necessary. maybe a cheaper one? Pumping money into your gun will not necessarily improve it any more than a few cheap upgrades. I don't know anything about MOSFETS really, I run a lipo (7.4v though) and a FET is not needed.Just seems like a lot of money for some microchips to be honest.

The ASCU isn't the same as a regular MOSFET because it also removes the anti reversal latch meaning that the gun will never jam up on semi-auto, it also offers you different fire mode settings. You can lock the gun to semi only, swap the auto mode for burst etc etc, they're really good. I've been looking at getting one for quite a while, I didn't know Fire Support sold them, so thanks for that Nicholas.

Simplest thing you can do is as above, upgrade the barrel, hop and spring and your gun will come on leaps and bounds.

No need to get anything over the top expensive, madbull barrel, madbull rubber and more or less any spring you like. You'll be looking at spending about £80 for all those parts, but it will be worth it. Spending more for the same stuff isn't really worth it because the difference is negligible.

As said the ASCU goes in the gearbox and adds a few features that and I want to upgrade to 11.1v 2600mAh at some point which would ruin the motor if I just plugged it in.

I have just ordered a 6.01mm barrel. I have already changed the hopup unit for a metal one my mate had spare and replaced the rubber, Waiting to get my battery back before I can test it though as a mate has borrowed it for a 24hr Milsim somewhere

Found it cheaper on Redwolf but still out of stock. Just fired off an email asking when they will have it back in.

You'll have to spend more on getting it shipped over here, it'll work out cheaper from Fire Support, best bet would be to email them with a stock update request or something.

I ordered a twist barrel from Redwolf, that was listed as being £61, but by the time I got it, it'd cost me close to £100 because of shipping and customs charges.

Fire Support have since stocked the same barrels for £70ish, so if I'd realised before, I could've saved myself some dosh.

Although, Redwolf are supposed to be opening a UK retail store soon, so it might be worth waiting for that to rear its head. They're at the arms fair tomorrow if you're going? I'll ask them about the sort of stuff they'll be stocking. 'Cos it'd be awesome if they were just the same as the HK store, but in the UK.

I would be at the fair tomorrow as I'm working, might get some of the frontier airsoft (Site I do photography for) lot to ask around for me.

Thanks though (y)

Did all the upgrades and OH MY GOD. This gun is so sexy now. I have whacked my L96 bipod and 3-9x and that helped seeing where my BB's were actually going.

Long story short, It is now a low powered sniper, Well, Almost. I am using a pre-agreed engagement distance with it. I put a M100 in and with a 509mm 6.03mm Barrel (Spare one of my mates) it chrono'd at 364, 357, 365, 361 FPS with 0.25G BB's. I agreed with marshals (I'm a photographer/trainee marshal anyway) that I would be careful how close I shot.

Lunch Time I whacked the 6.01mm Madbull barrel I bought in and it now chronos at 375, 374, 378, 369, 374 with 0.25g BB's.

My playing style before was full auto or nothing and rain BB's into an area in bursts, Now I was using single shot if not then 4-5 round burst and getting a hit every time and being well out of range of everyone. In one game I was sat 10ft from a sniper on my team who was picking out targets for me as he didn't have the range and I did.

As above though I'm going to whack a M90 in as M100 has put it to sniper level of power (Gotta be 420FPS or so with .2g BB's)

Next up I think I'm going to get a High-torque motor, I'm getting 13RPS, although that is more than plenty the motor sounds like it is struggling.
