VFC M249 Thread

That CO2 is £3 a pop, it might be worth selling whats left of my dignity and go HPA, rather than just leave it sat like an expensive paper weight in the corner.
I've been running mine on hpa recently , but still with the stick mags. It's a very easy and quick swap , so I can still use the green gas box mag when I dont want the line.

Ran the 249 today . Used the hpa line but stick mags . I'm not a massive fan of hpa , but it is a convienient way of running the 249 . Got lots of solid kills with it . It's just so much fun to use and constantly impresses , and the sound is awesome.

Going to drop the power a bit though , despite being comfortably inside site limit a couple of the guys I hit had some proper welts .

I've ordered the railed hand guard for it too to change the look a bit.

Joined the club this week. Feedback using green gas is surprisingly crisp. Legitimately tempted to pick up another box and not worry about HPAing it.

Very light, almost uncomfortably so, especially compared to my EBR, might pick up some dNA parts eventually.

only plan to slap an EOtech and a railed hand guard and call it a day.

overall though, love it so far.

Hi all. Picked up a new M249 yesterday and have an issue. The trigger sear appears to be hit and miss, sometimes not releasing the bolt. Tried lubricating everything and the issue persists. You can see the bolt move very sightly and nothing? Any thoughts?

That's being processed as an audio file on my phone, oddly.

The trigger mech on the M249 is as simple as can be, so it's weird to have it fail. Try looking at the safety mechanism, maybe it's intermittently engaging and blocking the sear from dropping.

As above , it's a sound file for me too . Certainly sounds like it's safety related . Also check that there isn't debris in the trigger pack , shattered BB that sort of thing .

All sorted! Sear was binding on the bolt and you could see marks. Little bit od 800 wet and dry and some autosol has cured the issue!

Now this is fun! HPA set up completed (almost as waiting on larger clips to allow box mag wiring to run with line too). Came out pretty well I think and zero issues.

I don't recall where but I saw a guy had HPA'd one and had the bottle inside of (I assume custom made?) box mag and was using the top loading magazines. I quite like the idea of that, as I'm very tempted to get the VFC to run on HPA but also don't want to have to worry about a hose sticking out, I get stuck on anything poking out as it is... Anybody know what I'm on about and can remind me where I saw it? 😂

Edit: I found it!

not sure what you are referring to, but i was wondering if the small HPA bottles would fit into one of the box mags to convert it to HPA.

with the issues of finding appropriate CO2 capsules for the CO2 box mag, and the significant amount of green gas the regular tank swallows, im becoming more and more convinced that HPA is way to go,  but i am dubious about running a full size HPA tank and external line for the same reasons @Austeyr mentioned (snagging). its for this reason alone that i dont own more HPA guns and no longer run my Tippmann M4 as often as i used to.

I am also debating whether to keep using the casette mags once i do convert it to HPA, seeing as i have 12 spare cassette mags, or do the AEG box mag conversion.

The link I edited onto my post has a 0.44L bottle essentially stuck into the box mag which was cut up, with a line running out of said bottle. It looks atrocious but definitely would mitigate the risk of snagging. Although my next concern would be the weight of the bottle pulling on the magazine tabs 🤔

The same chap has fitted a bottle into a nut sack mag and it hides the bottle completely

Never had a line catch tbh and run 2 MTW's also so it just made sense to go this way. Just takes careful planning and routing of the line on your kit. Mine comes from a sack on the rear of my plate carrier, over the shoulder (all through Molly tabs) and down the front. This leaves a loop tucked close in to the body and works well, even in a prone position. I did add 0ne more line support clip to the third internal rail support screw to the set up but no other changes.

Next issue is how to fix my bullet belt over the box mag feed and mic springs 😀

I was going to add a microswitch to the trigger but the mic works perfectly for now routed in the spring, as I suspect the metal amplifies the sound.

I meant to add originally that the slightly bunched area as line enters the Maxwell is actually just the heatshrink over some stainless metal braid protecting the line. I Ali blacked the line hole in the mag well which now looks like it was factory and the original mag fits perfectly and operates fine so all removable.

I've not snagged the line when running mine. Tank is in a respirator bag hung off my belt , short line from there into RIF. I do draw the line at the aeg box mag though . I shall contine using the stick mags , as for me mag changes are all part of running GBBs  I did set up the boxmag for a mate though who also has one.

Anyone changed out an inner barrel yet? What type is required and recommendations if any? Just wondering if it is worth doing?

I've put a Maple leaf Crazy jet along with a M/L rubber in mine . Did the mod on the C clip that is supposed to help accuracy . However , as I've also fitted the heavy recoil weight getting 2 shots in exactly the same place is pur luck anyway !

I do think the barrel and rubber did actually improve accuracy though .
