VFC M249 Thread

After deciding I have too much money and not enough sense, I've bought an M249 and now have neither. However, I'm not sure if I have a lemon or not.

The problem I've encountered is that when I plug in the gas block from the box mag, it's super tight. Normally this would be a good thing given the issues people have with the block falling out after a couple of bursts, but this is so tight that it takes a considerable amount of force and wiggling to get the block out, to the point where it feels like eventually the hose is going to rip out instead.

The STANAG gas reservoir goes in and comes out with little issue. I've removed the nozzle out of the magwell and then placed the block in. Fits fine. This makes me think that either the tollerance is out on the block of the gas reservior, or on the gun itself (nozzle in the wrong place). I've reached out to a couple of people in the know who also own a VFC M249, and while they haven't experienced the issue, they both agree that something is up.

Has anyone here experienced the same thing? If so, what was the cause? If it's the RIF itself, is there an easy fix to resolve (In before HPA).

I'm going to get in touch with the places I bought the RIF and the reservoir from (different shops, due to availablity), and see what they say, but I figured I'd also ask here in case anyone else has encountered the same issue.

Are you putting the gas block in before or after you fit the box mag to it's bracket ? It is way easier to fit the block before installing the mag and removing mag before gas block .

Before. The fiddliness of inserting the block then fitting the box to the bracket I could live with (and it is fiddly), but that's not the issue. It's that the block is literally jammed in place once it's in and takes a lot of force to remove. Hell, it takes more force than expected to insert it.
