VFC M249 Thread

Hey guys, thanks for the thread it’s been super handy! Got my 249 and co2 box on the way (little scared about the horror stories you guys mentioned about WGC and UPS). I came across these 45g bulbs, I’m no expert but I think I found a thread somewhere about the size of the 67g bulbs and I think these have the same thread size 5/8-18UNF. If anyone knows more about co2 and if that’s right let me know, but I’m tempted to order some and give it a go once it all arrives

I'm going to say that from the picture those capsules are not the right thread size  , you need M16 x 1.5 threads. The big 88g ones are the correct threads but are too long to fit in the box without modifying it.

I've used adapters and smaller cartridges but found I went through them very fast .

You’re probably right mate, I have zero experience with co2 so literally have no clue. I’m just going by the description on the proact site about the bulbs, vs the thread size listed on the co2 site. Shame if it’s not right, 45g would have probably been a decent middle ground without much need to chop and change too frequently. View attachment 148885

Actually now I check 5/8 is damn near 16mm so they might fit . Give them a go and please do let us know . Certainly 2 x 45g bulbs would give a decent capacity.

If anyone can post some detailed pics of the block the capsules screw into i can tell you if it's something i can make with different threads to suit different capsules.

I can get some pics . The block has an integral regulator though . What would be good would be insetrs that screw in to the existing threads . I do have a couple of adaptors that screw in and allow smaller capsules to fit .

And the adapters I have . Something like these to use something smaller than the 88g would be good.

I have the same adapters,  but I have been unable to find a thread tap that can cut a  thread while also working around the puncture pin, as I don't see any way to remove it.

I would very much like to find a way to cut a 1/2"UNF thread so I can use 66g cartridges. I have a contact that can supply "expired" cartridges from overhauled lifejackets

I'll have a look into it. The block itself is probably pretty basic and the regulator will come out. Looks like there's a channel drilled inside that's blocked off with a plug on the left.

Adapters are probably fairly simple too.

The pin's probably pressed or bonded in. Making adapters for ½" UNF is probably as easy as any other.

I wonder if the bosses that the capsules screw into are themselves screwed in . They do have a slot on top. Next time I dont have a 'live' co2 capsule in I'll have a look at that .

If they are , then replacements with the smaller internal bore might be an option .

I think that is the case, but they may well be fitted in with sealant too.

Does anyone know how to actually speak to someone at UPS? I’m in import scan Groundhog Day, and so far no one has asked me to do a RIF declaration or pay any fees and it seems impossible to talk to a person. I think someone had similar issues earlier in the thread but unsure how they got a number for someone who’s not AI.

Press the numbers for the customs team, then go from there. I think things are slow at the moment though.

My parts were stuck for nearly two weeks.

It's fucking ups , they have 2 speeds , glacial and stop !

Managed to get hold of someone through the customs option (thanks LMKipper). She sent me a RIF declaration, filled out and sent back and they just updated to say they have everything they need and then sent an invoice today which wasn’t too painful. Hopefully I’ll be in the 249 club by the weekend ??

Awesome news on both counts ! You are going to love it , they are sooooo much fun .

Be interesting to see how long a couple of 45g capsules last in a game.

That CO2 is £3 a pop, it might be worth selling whats left of my dignity and go HPA, rather than just leave it sat like an expensive paper weight in the corner.
