Well as the title says i just thought "under slung pistol is it a good/bad idea?"

After all we have nade launchers, shotguns and bayonets (kinda the same idea of under mounted weaponry)

had a fool about on pimpmygun and going with the idea of using a pistol sight rail and an acog mount or ris2ris connector, (didnt have one so used a s.m 2 simulate) and then fab some sort of rear support/slideguradlike a nadelauncher would have.

so whats the thoughts? is it a silly idea or maybe a missed one?

What's the point? Under barrel mounted shotguns / grenade launchers are useful because it means standalone weapons don't have to be carried around or more squad members could have one rather than an individual bearing an extra weapon. They have a tactical use like breaching, in terms of airsoft both scatter a load of BBs so you can hit a load of people or keep them suppressed.

A pistol on the other hand is supposed to a sidearm, a backup weapon, they're easier to use in close quarters and so on. Putting it on a long gun would make it much less effective.

fair point still could look kinda awesome even if it was for a fool around

Go for it!

under barrel pistols look awesome (thou pretty useless). gbb should not be a problem if the ris is attached to the lower receiver:

Only worth doing on a gun with semi only fire
stick a full auto pistol underneath and when you need spray and pray away you go
even then still a stoopid as fuck idea ^_^

Disadvantages of weight, aligning the pistol barrel with the rifle sights, changing handhold when you swap to pistol etc outweigh any advantages over a normal practiced transition from primary to secondary weapon. Imagine the fumbling involved trying to reload both in a firefight . . . . :)
