TM Glock 17 Gen 4 help

I took my top rail apart to fix a red dot to the slide but noticed this part in the pic came free but can't for the life of me see where it goes?

Any help would be much appreciated.

That’s the end of your recoil rod.

The notched bit locks into the recoil rod. The groove on the flat end is where it sits in the hop unit. Drop me a message if you need more help.
