tips for low light conditions

I struggle at target acquisition in low light conditions. By the nature of it if they are in the shadows it's hard to see them but wondering if anyone has advice.

Look for movement, shadows and silhouettes rather than for an actual person.

depends on how low the light is.

if you're using red dots then turn down the brightness, because that'll obscure the target.

if you're talking about actual darkness then there comes a point where the conversation is going to have to start mentioning nod's/thermal/torches.

this is one of the aspects of airsoft i think is valuable in terms of translation to real skill, being able to spot a target who's trying to hide himself from you. it comes with experience but if someone is well concealed and sitting still it's really hard to spot them. fortunately a lot of folk run camo that isn't ideal or don't cover their faces.

But as has been said above , all you can do is look for movement , that's what I focus for in low light.

I also use either yellow or amber tinted lenses , helps to increase contrast in the ambient lighting

The best all round lens is clear, but amber helps to pick out details in low light

There is also more to it then the colour, lenses come in many finishes such as just a coloured coating, mirrored or magic science filtering .... mirrors deflect a lot of light, DyeTanium let’s more light through 

Do bear in mind how you are going to use a lens,  as a photographer it was not the best idea to fit a brand new DyeTanium lens then rub a camera up against it all day.

if you're talking about actual darkness then there comes a point where the conversation is going to have to start mentioning nod's/thermal/torches.

to be fair sometimes it's complete darkness on my cqb site why I run a torch on my pistol and aeg. Unless you can get NODs or thermals for a reasonable price I can't say I'd consider them I just throw enough bodies in to the darkness to triangulate the position of campers. 

But sometimes it's just not bright or I am in a bright environment and they are in a less lit environment. Perhaps I should stick to the shadows so my vision adjusts. As an extreme example I was outside facing a building sun pointing at me but in a window facing me I couldn't really see the guy shooting at me. When I went in to the building I could see everything inside clearly. 

I have a clear lens I use indoors and a dyetanium gold lens I use outdoors if the sun is out. If overcast I use my clear.

Based on the comments and links provided I think if I was to get another lens yellow might be preferred over amber or HD as dye call it. 

I am going to a night game next month so I expect I will be needing all the advantage to see anything.

Jesus fucking christ. 

I'll keep it in mind but I can't see me spending that type of money I'm still trying to swallow the vortex crossfire optic price but I've used my evo so little since I got my pistol.

I too struggle to see in twilight but clear lens work better for me. I have used yellow all day but switched to clear in the evening when I was using yellow lens. Now I just use clear every time.
