The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread

Yeah I uh, I thought we were humans who could retain conversation context, and so everything I said in my previous comment would still apply.

Which was making the point that the only limit is ultimately legal, laying out why I think it would be interesting to expand options if the law did change, and that British people are no more susceptible to poor sportsmanship than Americans.

I get the impression the septics have the same problems as we do. My cousin in Florida took his boy to a game last year and said it was great until they were "lit up by some punk 14 year old with a bloody compressed air bottle strapped on his back!". Also I'm sure we've all seen the infamous no full auto indoors video

We are; however, this is a long and disjointed discussion. Apologies if I did not go back and read each of your previous comments before responding to your latest one.

Then we can agree that the laws a given nation has seemingly have no effect on the Airsoft sportsmanship on the field. A legal solution to a cultural problem just doesn't really work.

But like I said, I think the law here is mostly good and DMRs are a good example of site owners having discretion over power limits for the benefit of gameplay. There's no legal reason for them to be lower power than BASRs, but the convention is such and players broadly comply.

I think people in the UK Airsoft scene get overly twisted due to a few bad actors, personally.

I only made one, but I understand if that's too much to read.

I consider it a basic courtesy to read people's comments before snarkily replying, personally.

You thought that was snarky? Gosh, you have led a sheltered life.

My last game was my best ever, many many kills, hardly any deaths, won every game, had a real laugh. I was using my very first AEG, none of my fancy new stuff. Made me think.

As someone who has been sniping and DMRing for as long as I can remember... I always tell people the most effective gun is the lightweight AEG with high or midcap mags if you want to rack up kills, do the objective and win the game. I love being on the same team as the amped up rentals who want to get stuck in, because they're usually the players who win games.

To the point where a substantial number of players are surprised when I tell them what the law actually says. I've found many people are shocked to hear that a semi-locked gun can be up to 2.5J, and an example of an event that allows it is Shift Your RIFT, as their DMR limit is 2.32J same as bolt actions.

Exactly yeah, I'll see "Semi Auto is legally limited to 1.7J/1.8J/etc, etc" based purely on what people's local rules are lmao

Apocalypse near Royston have the same rule.
I think the reason most sites have lower limits for DMRs is to create a middle ground between full auto capable guns and bolt actions. Even with the 1 shot in the air at a time rule a bolt action will have a hard time keeping up with a semi auto gun in terms of rof so it makes sense to have the power limit between F.A. capable guns and bolt actions too
