Hi all, it's my lads birthday soon and he wants his own shiney new pistol. We already have an ssp2 so I'm thinking another hi capa would be ideal. I'm assuming id be able to use the existing mags with either? He wants a gold one.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Is it worth spending more for the Tokyo marui one? Or just get one of the cheaper clones? I see some with integrated/attached red dot sight, are they removable or permanently attached please.

Many thanks.

No idea about Hi-Capa's but that tends to be the favourable thing when it comes to gas related pistols. I do quite like how the "Gold Match" looks though haha

They'll be removable, usually by two screws (either phillips or allan usually)

Thanks for the reply, the gold match has classic looks and I like it too.

but I think he wants more bling...

There's split slide versions I see, not sure if they any better tho.

They all seem to be tracer compatible which appeals.

There's an overwhelming amount of choice. 😆

I'm considering the raven hi capa its almost half the price of the TM one, so I can get more mags and the HFC HG-138 Mini BB Launcher for the same price.

Is that a silly idea?

I'll take the advice...

Gold match ordered.

Thanks guys.

With 2 extra mags and the grenade launcher cos I think it looks cool. I might keep that for myself tho...

Only got the one kid so i don't mind spending. I want him to have the best I can afford and to be the envy of his mates.

Thanks again.

That's not entirely true. Not all TM Hi Capas have threaded outer barrels with the Gold Match being one of them unless that has revised in the past 18 months. I swapped mine out for a metal threaded (internal) so it maintains the aesthetic.

I'll let you know in a couple of days... Hope it does take a tracer tho.

Watched some videos on a full auto version it looks amazing 🤩

Might have to save up

Pit viper or sand viper are decent options too.

I have a sand viper and absolutely love it, feels great in the hand, shoots nicely with good recoil and slings a .3 out a fair distance for a bog standard pistol.

Compensator has threading but not sure what adapter would be needed to fit a tracer.

Not even 24 hours, and I chose the cheapest delivery from patrol base.

Galvatron, you were right. No threaded outer barrel. It's still gorgeous though, can see why people rate it highly.

Have to resist the urge to gas it up and fire it. The mags for the ssp2 fit it perfectly as expected.

He better appreciate it. 😆

Let me overwhelm you with even more choice now that you've actually bought a TM gold match (great choice, but too blingy for my tastes; I have a classic TM hi-capa myself)

I present:

You're welcome 🙃

Wow. Some amazing parts, with prices to match...

Yep, yeh the gold not to my taste but he wanted a golden gun. He can pay for any upgrades tho...

Thanks for the link. (I think) 😆

Thanks for that mate.

Are you using blue gas in yours? I've seen few videos saying if I use anything else it won't last. I only have red cans here, but will order blue if necessary. Cheers.

Blue? If you mean the old R134 type duster gas, I'd suggest you ignore that advice. In the good old days, there were an enormous amount of people who swore blind that anything more powerful would blow the slide clean off ANY TM pistol after less than half a mag. They've been proven wrong multiple times but more to the point, it's a HiCapa. If it breaks there's a myriad of manufacturers making replacement parts for it. Slap some green gas in and go nuts.
