Hello i wear glasses and need advice on buying eye protection?

If you wear glasses under any kind of mask you WILL get fogging issues.

Lens inserts, prescription ballistic lenses or contact lenses.

 
I wear glasses and run some ICE shooting glasses with prescription inserts.

 
I tried quite a few things. I initially tried glasses under a set of full seal goggles, that was horrible they both fogged so fast I didn't get out of the safe zone. I then tried prescription inserts in some Bolle Raider's (goggles sort of) and they fogged just as fast, didn't even get out of the safe zone (it was Bunker 51 in the summer and its hot in there). So I went and got contacts for the first time in my life and tried those under the Bolle Raiders and that was better, I could at least play but I still had fogging issues. So then I finally bit the expense bullet and bought a set of Revision Locusts with fan and that more or less solved my vision issues completely combined with contacts. Depending on how much you sweat you may or may not need a fan in your goggles but prescription inserts were a complete disaster for me as were trying to use some glasses.

 
My stepson today was just asking the same type of question, he's supposed to be wearing contact's but just isn't getting on with them at the moment.

So he was asking me about getting some prescription goggles made.

I've got an amber pair of Bolle Tracker 2's and they have the ability to take an insert with prescription lens put into them.

He's phoned a couple of the chain opticians about how much it would cost for getting lenses made up and then fitted into the insert, the costs he was quoted was £30 to £40 for what they call "reglazing".

So, from taking what he's relayed to me so far today: from amazon £19 will get you a pair of tracker 2's and the lensless prescription insert, and £30 for a reglaze from tesco.

There are other makes that do this sort of thing, and there are some specialist opticians that offer a bespoke service too.

 
Contact Lenses and mesh mate. No fog issues and able to take them off after games

My first glazing was spec savers and they did it that afternoon for £20. The second one was also specsavers but I got anti fog coated ones and that was IIRC £40. Neither worked, they both fogged. The only thing that gave me good vision was contacts.

Mesh was also an issue as I have seen repeated videos showing fragments penetrating it and in the very first game I played I used the sites mesh equipment and ended up with a fragment inside my goggles, it missed my eye but it quickly showed me why mesh isn't ANSI rated.

 
I have been using a pair of larger mesh goggles over my glasses. Think they may have been Nuprol ones, but can't remember. They work reasonably well, had no issues with BB fragmentation so far. Glasses didn't sit too well behind the mesh, and made it quite uncomfortable after an hour or so. Personally I'll be trying contact lenses again before my next game and using the ESS Advancers I bought a while ago.

 
I had this same problem and after researching the issue bought a pair of x1000rx Bolle tactical goggles. They are designed to wear with glasses. i have played with them several times now, in hot weather and heavy rain, and have not had fogging issues. I tend not to be running about much during games, so I don't know if this is a factor, but I can say that I am pleased with them. They are certainly worthy of a look.

When I played yesterday, I got thwacked on the hand and body by pellets which really stung (although only for a short time) but it reminded me of what damage they could have done to my eyes. Good quality eye protection is vital.

I have recently started playing and read many forums trying to find a response to the same question. Most people say just get contacts,which if u can wear them, great, problem solved. I can't. So others said pay for subscription lenses but can be expensive. Yeah, no joke.

So I ended up going with a fast helmet with built in visor. It works perfect for me. I was a little worried about gaps underneath, but my standard mesh mask covers that.

My very first game I wanted to make sure it would hold up being shot, well, after 30 mins I found out as I didn't notice the guy stood in the door way about 20 yards away pointing his pistol at me. As I turned and saw him, pop, I watched in slo-motion as that BB speed towards me and hit me square in the middle of the eyes. Held up perfect. Only had fogging issues once and that was a night game. But that's just my opinion and my experience.

 
I wear contacts mainly and use Bullet Revision goggles which work fine. I have a prescription insert for when I'm not wearing lenses and they do fog all the time I'm not moving.

Catcrap has been the best antifog that I have used so far and helps but still get moisture droplets forming.

I have a review up in the review section with the ones I have tried. My top pick is the Revision anti fog wipes (expensive), second is Fogtech (a lot cheaper). The Revision wipes are almost magic compared to everything else I tried (most of which was near useless).

Taking a hit at 20m from a pistol shooting probably 300 ish is something I would expect my actual glasses to stand up to.

The built in visors on Chinese copy helmets aren't rated to any kind of standard and I honestly wouldn't trust them to stop a stiff breeze let alone a heavy BB being fired out of a hot gun up close.

Your call of course, but you can't spend money later on to buy new eyes, you can spend a but now to buy eye protection that's safe and effective at not fogging up.

 
I run Bolle Tracker 2's and paid roughly the prices AndyGif posted above, steaming isnt too bad and I am a sweaty git, just give them a wipe before each game or so. The one thing to bear in mind with the inserts is the angle at which the lense sits to the eye is quite different to normal glasses. This can cause some disorientation and depth perception issues the first few times out but I soon got used to it.

Contacts are the game changer if you can put up with them as it opens up a much broader range of stuff you can wear. I've always got some with me but normally feel lazy so use glasses with inserts.

 
I play CQB and I found fan mask (cheap knock off from TM) which works great for me!

I was struggling to find anything to fit over glasses but this one has no problem. The only negative is that my helmet don't fit with it :(

I use this mask at the moment and it is absolutely Spot on.

It's a JT Flex-8 goggle which has been modified with two fans, bought it from a guy on here.

I give these a wipe with some Revision anti-fog and do the same to my specs and i don't get any fog whatsoever for the whole day. And I'm a sweaty chubby fella!

The only thing is the occasional bit of water on the inside.

I'm in the same boat. As long as they give decent coverage, you can make do with shooting glasses (which, if you search for that, will yield far more results in relation to prescription lenses). I've found a pair of Wiley X shooting glasses that you can use either as glasses or as goggles by switching out the regular setup for a strap instead (included). Prescription comes in around £35 extra, so the whole deal comes to £100. To be honest, you wouldn't pay much less for some high quality ballistic rated goggles anyway without the prescription.

I did the contact lenses + mesh on my first airsoft game. Never again. Got dirt in my eye which was a nightmare, had to leave the field to sort it out, got left with a super sore eye afterwards. I grew up in Dubai and never wore contacts because sand would get in them in an instant which was a real pain the butt. I would avoid contacts when there can be bits of dirt and foliage flying about.
