Up for preorder at AirsoftTiger111hk for $347 is a clone of the TM Saiga 12K. Looks like it will come in Black or Tan and they have the mags listed as $35. There is some mention of steel internals but no real detail as yet. Hopefully we might get to see a few other versions and possibly cheaper larger magazines.

You can get a TM for £435 in the UK. by the time you add on shipping and tax the Golden Eagle going to be roughly the same price,

I think you would save around 50-80 quid buying from HK as the dollar price is about 250 quid. It's unlikely shipping and taxes would be 200 quid and probably more around the 100 quid mark depending on how Border Force are feeling that day. If the internals turn out to be all steel then even if it is close to the UK price it still makes it a worthwhile buy.

£344.70 with the cheapest (non UPS) shipping, roughly £70 - £85 import fees depending on handling fees, so not far off the TM cost UK side

Also it's golden eagle, so the parts are going to be made from dodgiest grade chinesium, replacements will be near non-existent and those that do exist will take months to acquire.

As opposed to the TM parts? Unless things have changed some of the more prone to fail parts of the TM ones (feed nozzle IIRC) are nigh on impossible to source even via Impulse101and the aftermarket/3rd party options nowt to write home about.

But they're not a clone so aren't playing with tolerance stacking problems like this will be - Golden Eagle GBBR M4's copied the archaic version of the Western Arms (circa 15-20 years ago) rather than a more up to date variant and this caused all manner of issues. TM are japanese budget, but with usually decent-ish manufacturing, Golden Eagle are just bargain basement budget manufacturing (lots of critical parts renowned for straight up shearing for no reason with even minimal use) - if the price is near enough the same landed, getting anything other than the original is pointless.

I don't hold TM stuff in high regard, had too many of them with stupid design decisions just flat out break and become unrepairable, but Golden Eagle are on a whole other level of shit - to the point where they make budget taiwan GBBR's look like god tier ones.

Yet their copies of the 870 shotguns are considered on par with the TM ones
Explosive Enterprises disagrees with that. I see more boneyard Golden Eagles than TMs. As others have said TM are mainly budget guns in Japan we just paid through the nose for them. But TM does the research and development and the understand the limits of the materials they use. I have owned god knows how many guns over the years. I have always run TM stock, I have had guns wear out from use but I have never had a TM gun catastrophically fail. Whenever I read about someone saying TM are bad they have either badly up graded the gun or use it incorrectly and are wonder why a gas almost double the PSI of the design spec trashed it.

Your experience must be different to mine, from both personal experience and talking to other 870 owners most of what I've heard is positive.

I agree with you that when people call TM guns crap it's because they've done something silly
