Ive been looking at a G&G CM16 Predator as a first RIF but not having much joy finding recent reviews.

Everything i find is about 3 years old with some complaints of issues with MOSFET and lots of having to send back on warranty or refunds.

Has anyone purchased one of these in the last 3 months or so and can confirm if the initial issues have been resolved?

Some of what ive seen says that to begin with the Predator supported various volt Ni-Mh and LiPo but you now have to run with 11.1v LiPo. Can anyone confirm this is the case and if so recommend batts that will fit the small stock?

I like the idea of the Predator as a first RIF with MOSFET and ETU for some future proofing and ill hardly have to touch the internals but if its just going to cause me loads of hassle id rather go for Raider 2.0 and slowly upgrade it.

They are fine now. Had my wildhog nearly a year and had no trouble (same mosfet/etu combo)

With batteries it’s always been the case that you need 11.1 and that is what was causing some of the issues.

If you follow the instruction and don't use anything bigger then a 11.1 25c lipo battery you will be perfectly fine. Don't use nimh, life or a anything less then a 11.1v and you should be all good. Got one in my spare cm16 for just over a year. Ran every weekend no problems

I've owned a CM16 Predator for 16 months now, Mosfet blew in the first 2 months (too much full auto), bought a replacement and spare directly from G&G without issues.

The piston is a little soft on the teeth and you will have to replace it eventually.

If it has the same stock as the GC predator (assuming it does) then you’ll want the 1450mah versions of those batteries. I know they’ll fit

Or look on Hobbyking or Component shop and see if the measurements are the same as any there.

Thanks for the info guys.

Got my third day at Dogtag, Holbush this Sunday and see about my UKARA.

Once UKARA comes through (dont know how long it takes to process) will head for nearby www.surplusstore.co.uk

Shopping list:

GC16 Predator https://www.surplusstore.co.uk/g-g-gc16-predator-hunter-green.html

2x 11.1 Lipo https://www.surplusstore.co.uk/nuprol-11-1v-1450mah-30c-crane.html

1x Charger (Site has a charger and batt bundle option with the RIF so may just need the 1 spare Lipo)

1x Mid Cap Mag (Will get more in future but im not very trigger happy and there usually enough time to restock between rounds) https://www.surplusstore.co.uk/bb-guns/bb-gun-accessories/airsoft-magazines/electric-gun-magazines/electric-rifle-magazines/g-g-gr16-plastic-magazine-5798.html

If budget allows:

556 Holosight (but if not ill be fine with Iron sights for now) https://www.surplusstore.co.uk/nuprol-886-556-style-sight.html

At some point id want to put a mock suppressor on the RIF but with barrel receded in the handguard cant slap just anything on it.

Can anyone confirm what diameter suppressor would fit?

Aren't they available cheaper than that?
I have found them maybe 10-20 quid cheaper on Patrolbase and others.

But at least for my first RIF happy go somewhere local and spend a little more so i got somewhere to take it back if there are any problems

Thats what I did, worth it in my opinion. There good blokes in there. Wouldn’t get the sight from them. They can be had for about £15-20 on eBay or amazon and they are all exactly the same.

If you don't mind 2nd hand, or the fact it's a 551 and not a 556... you can save yourself £40 here:

Or even save £30 on a new one from Amazon.

There's nothing special about the Nuprol one. In fact, I guarantee it's probably just a fancy re-box of the amazon version. With a waterslide transfer.

SNAP :D

So my UKARA came through and i dropped into SurplusStore and got

-G&G GC16 Predator https://www.surplusstore.co.uk/g-g-gc16-predator-hunter-green.html

-Midcap Mag https://www.surplusstore.co.uk/bb-guns/bb-gun-accessories/airsoft-magazines/electric-gun-magazines/electric-rifle-magazines/nuprol-m4-mid-cap-mag-30-140rd.html

- Two x 9.6v 1600mah NIMH  https://www.surplusstore.co.uk/nuprol-9-6-1600-mah-nunchuck-crane-stock-type.html

(I asked about the previous MOSFET/ETU issues and they said these are now resolved but i also asked about 11.1v LiPo and they said they they would tear up the internals and voids the 3 month warranty so as long as it works happy to stick with the 9.6v NiMh for now)

-Charger https://www.surplusstore.co.uk/bulldog-nimh-battery-charger.html

Also got off Amazon

-Beileshi 551 Holographic Sight https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01LXAI68A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So far very happy with it. Tried a few test shots and trigger response is great. Im not very trigger happy using single fire most the time so see me switching to the triple shot over the full auto.

Hmmm, strange. 11.1 won’t tear up the internals at all, been using mine on them since I bought it without issue.

They shouldnt have sold you 9.6v Nimh, you’ll have problems.

Emailed the store to check and they replied.

'Hi thanks for the email we do advise to use the 9.6 battery with the gun that you purchased it puts less stress on the gear box and parts otherwise if you do use the 11.1 it does have a habbitt of recking the piston and gears. We will always try to recommend the correct items as when we used to use 11.1 in the G&G guns These would 50 % of the time cause issues as I said previously'

As before guess I'll stick with 9.6v for the 3 month warranty and maybe switch to 11.1v later

Be surprised if you get more than 1-200 shots off before the battery cut off kicks in
