It is real! There used to be a conversion kit available that enabled you to do this with the old TM style AKs.

I am definitely getting one.

Top marks only if you are able to graft on a SCAR style stock and a G36 carry handle. And perhaps, a Lee Enfield No.4 spike bayonet to finish off the aesthetic.

My current vision for it is an M4A1 front end with a Type 56 sight and an AK cleaning rod, along with a magwell adaptor so that it can take PP19 mags.

Definitely a case of just because you can doesn't mean you should.
