Am I being paranoid with 2nd hand sales?

I wouldn't take it personally, 2nd hand sales are a game of trust and because there's so many bad actors right now its hard to build that trust up.

Its kind of like allowing a complete stranger to drive your car. Some will drive if fine and return your car and some wont. Its a gamble each time unless you know them or have dealt with them before.

I dont think Lyndication was explaining their situation in a negative way but more sharing an experience of possible red flag. Regardless of whether it was correct or not. I have probs skipped over a few classified i wanted because there was 1 thing off in the description or a single negative feedback. Its just one of those things with sales like this.

My recent experience was almost unbelievable to say the least…

Guy wanted to buy a few of the items so asked for a price as a bundle, I reasonably gave him a bundle price of £160 and sent my PayPal link.

He sent £130, claimed he was short of funds because he’s due to go on holiday, then asked if I could post it to his brothers address or hold on to it until September.

I told him no, sorry, and also you’ve sent less than I quoted, I got hit with the “do you know I’ve bought from you before”. Well, no, I didn’t, but it doesn’t make a difference here.

I just refunded him as I didn’t want the hassle, ended up claiming he sent £30 less because he knocked one of the items off the bundle (wasn’t agreed and didn’t mention it at all) and got arsey over it, genuinely couldn’t believe the gall of someone to act that way.

Rant over 😬

Yeah, particularly when selling a RIF I want to make sure the customer is going to like it.

The Tanaka M700 is a headache even as someone who techs all my own guns pretty happily. Parts are hard to source now, magazines too. There is fettling and maintenance required. The design is from 1998 and is just quite old hat by now, but it also has charm and once you get them running well they're very satisfying.

But it means I only want to sell it to someone who understands what they're buying. Otherwise I'll just be dealing with angry messages and doing the runaround organising a return.

It might seem academic that the buyer mixed up the Takedown and Full Stock models, but they're actually completely different guns with completely different hop up and barrel setups. The Takedown models are genuinely awful, the hop up is about 15cm down the barrel so they struggle with any kind of accuracy.

It's that kinda thing, basically.

I joined this forum on a whim a couple years ago but had never had a proper look at the forum back then; I wish I had!
I’m looking for a new RIF but also a bit apprehensive about sending hundreds of pounds and not truly knowing what I’ll receive. I bought a £500 RIF from someone on UA and while the RIF did turn up, it shot absolutely awful and had feeding issues etc so now I’m quite cautious. I just hope all my questions don’t put any sellers off to be honest!

Nothing wrong with asking questions. 👍

It is genuinely below Facebook Marketplace in terms of being an unregulated Eden for scammers tbh

It's a shame that feedback on this forum didn't get migrated. Have to build it back up.
While I don't disagree, in the last few months I've had to ban at least half a dozen members older accounts, some a decade old, that had been hacked, thankfully by spammers rather than dedicated scammers, who would have gladly turned over members using the original members feedback as proof of "honesty" lol
