All Hail God-king of Elbonia

If we've a spare million quid...

certainly elbonia has more than enough cash lying around.

but in the real world i agree it would also be kinda fun. wonder if the yanks have something like that going on same as they do for their cowboy action shooting.

 Is Elbonia landlocked? An Island?

neither, it has a pretty extensive coastline with some small islands in its territorial waters but its borders stretch quite far in-land in some places (read: if you want an island or a mountain range to play with it has both)

so you've taken my arma 2 campaign and turned it into spec ops: the line?
You lost me with that.  I had to Google The Line.   I don't game, so I was unfamiliar with it, but the premise looks cool for certain.  Cheers for leading me to it.

I had to watch my lad play COD etc to really understand what some of the filmsim games were trying to emulate tbh.

I was thinking more of the original book and film(s) themselves.  The atmosphere that Conrad creates is one of stifling fear and trepidation, the prize is always externally noble but flawed when examined.  I suppose, given the budget, I fancy sticking us into a truly challenging environment, and a totally foreign culture.  Conradian metaphysical pondering and airsoft all in one would be a disorienting and exciting game.   A game built around the battles in Nostromo would be amazing - separatists versus a rag tag army of conscripts and fanatical nationalist leaders.  In fact, now that I think of it, I realise that that is what I was thinking of when nicking your idea!

The spec ops angle could go beside an infantry assault.  I like the idea of anything goes, with local command taking decisions and objectives changing as the game progresses over a huge playing area.

If you play US in Namsoft games, the ambushes do get your adrenaline going.  I'd like the same on a bigger scale, with vehicles etc, and Africa always gets you closer to raw life.  I would love to play in proper jungle to be sure.

it's a massive troll if you don't know what you're in for, basically a half and half mix between the heart of darkness and a ptsd simulator.

if you ever play through it, and you need someone to talk to about "that room" just let me know.....

Take one of these ‘small islands’ and build some super high quality arenas, purpose made for airsoft, an airport, docks, villages etc and have objective based rolling games that move from one arena to the next, one team is offensive one defensive.

Also there would be vehicles, helicopters and stationary weapons to use in strategic places, just in case people got bored!

Probably something very similar to that already but off the bat money no object with land supplied that’d be where I’d go.

stationary weapons to use in strategic places

i must admit, i've only experienced one site that had a site-weapon that could be used by anyone.

it's a good idea though, some guns like the mg42 or the minigun don't really work all that well as a personal carried weapon but would be ideal for an emplaced "everyone can use it" kind of deal.

I guess its a landlocked country lol

nope, you can do islands if you want, as specified in the original brief elbonia has a mix of terrain that means you can recreate a reasonable facsimile of anywhere on earth.

for those not aware elbonia is a forgotten weapons reference.

Arclight Nam games have had stationary M60s set up at various points.  Great fun to get the other side following you towards one...

Proper hit and runs, rather than hit and get bogged down are my favourite tactics.  Difficult to persuade people to do mind.

BTW, I rec'd my copy of The Line.  Great game but the last thing I played was Medal of Honor Resistance on the PS1.  Fucking hell, the XBox controller is complicated.  I kept pushing the button to strafe like in Doom.  After an hour of laughing/swearing/blowing myself up I let the lad have his chair back, and he's up there now, gaming away.

I feel like a proper fossil...

Been years since i played it cant remember what the controls were like.

I would probably set up production of the niche guns that I am interested in that no one makes in real life. Bren guns, vickers guns, a decent Browning Hi-Power etc. Oh and all the bolt-action rifles.And/or legalize the conversion of real firearms, deactivated or otherwise, into airsoft guns.
