Hello

I'm looking for some goggles for airsofting. I have £15 to spend and my main area is SAFETY, so can withstand power and are not going to get broken. I would like to know if anybody has gotten any goggles the would reccomend and that are rather comfy. Thank you.

You can get a pair of bog standard mesh or polycarbonate goggles for £10

I'd seriously grab a pair of heroshark mesh for around £30 or ESS goggles for around the same price.

sorry to hi-jack this thread a touch but how protective would people say your common or garden DIY type safety specs are? I'm intending to use a set of snap-on specs (i'm a mechanic) at my first skirmish, am I gonna lose an eye? :P

check the rating of them and have a look on google the minimum rating will be there somewhere if it meets that then should be fine

I picked up a pair of ANZI rated (us military standard) shooting glasses from Edgar brothers online for about £25. With postage inc. A bit over your budget, but I'll let you know how they perform after my forst skirmish:)

How much is you eyesight worth??? £15 isn't really a big budget for something so important.

Cheapo ones will "probably" be OK, but would you want to take that risk? Spend a bit extra and get some ANZI rated ones. You can get ESS goggles and glasses from eBay for good prices, or spend a bit more and get new.

@spamofthejungle there's a good chance they'll be OK, but if I were you I'd get 2 pairs. Test one to destruction by shooting them up point blank with your gun. If they are fine, bin them and wear the new ones. I wouldn't wear the ones you tested because by extreme testing you've probably weakened them by some degree so it's best to get a new pair.

Good call mate, I'll pick up another set next time my dealer's about. Although seems a shame to wreck em, they're dead pretty, but then so are my eyes.....

:P Lol, No problem :-)

Worry less about price and more about where you get them from.

Buy from a respectable airsoft retailer that you know and trust. Do not be tempted by eBay or flea markets or chinasoft; I paid £6 for a pair of glasses from Z1 once and they lasted four years; even saw a pair take a point blank raping from a shotgun and they were scratched to hell after, but intact enough to have protected anything that would have been behind them.

Saw a pair of £30 glasses from china fall prey to a 290fps springer.

If you buy from a UKARA registered British airsoft retailer, whatever you spend, you'll be safe.

I do agree though with the "spend more" opinion. £15, or even £6 will make you safe, but not comfy. Spend a bit more, get something adaptable (multiple coloured lenses, like the guarder glasses) and comfy. My most important item looking for glasses is a lanyard so they're strapped on and can't fall off; once saw a guy lose his glasses and not even notice till he got shot in the mouth and freaked out cause his eyes were exposed too.

My £12.95 have lasted me 3 years.

Also used them in the workshop fine aswell.

check out Z1 they have a nice selection of eyewear.

i got a pair of new mesh for £4 + p&p

here they are being tested.

you can see a slight dent mate and a sniper round could damgae it even worse

You can yes, shot at 305fps....they are going to have some sort of movement when a BB is propelled just over 205mph. A sniper at a site normally have a 60foot (iirc) minimum engagement rule. As they power at approx 500fps. I will be testing a set with a 350fps G36C tomorrow and will give another idea.

yeah sometimes its not the metal that worries me its the paint chipping off,and a guy tested herosharks glasses at 650fps a point blank and nothing happened apart from a bit of paint chipping off.reccomend that guy alot

ah ok, not seen that video. Fair play in that case. Must be a good mesh goggle. Most sites I know chrono guns and should be only shooting 350fps top unless a sniper rifle. Will take a look.

i wouldnt worry to much unless you play at cqb sites . think about it how often do you see people shot at point blank in the eye ? not very often if ever, most shots that hit the eyewear will be no where near 350fps by the time its gotten to the target so you will be safe enough.

True that but my eyes are worth more than that risk you know? :/ Currently looking for something else! I will be playing CQB games so need something safe even more so.
