I reckon an extra large, thick gaming mat that costs no more than £15 should do the trick. Might get one to test it out. Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cimetech-Comfortable-Extended-Waterproof-800x300x5mm/dp/B08BFC8GVY/

Playairsoft – a Crowd-sourced List of UK Airsoft Sites
shadowfacex replied to shadowfacex's topic in General Discussion
I don't plan to abandon the project. I plan to keep it growing into something more than just a handy list of sites. If I can earn a little while doing it, awesome, but it would have to happen organically, as I don't plan to plaster ads all over it, just to keep the lights on. That's not my kind of game. As soon as I have 100+ sites, I'll be looking at adding a monthly/weekly newsletter which will be covering what's up in the industry, and keeping folks up-to-date about our favourite pastime, maybe a blog section for long-form content, such as reviews, news and community created content (guest posts?). Let me know if you guys fancy any of that, as I don't want to sink time into something that won't be helpful/entertaining. If you've got ideas, I'm all ears too! Can't make any promises, but I'll definitely listen. -
I know it will sound weird, thinking about a "dream gun", but I'd like a CZ P10c with a side of Sword International Mk-18 Mod 1 Mjölnir in a DMR configuration (so up to 425fps), as for the love of all things great, I can't find a SR25-like platform airsoft rifle that hasn't been "upgraded" to fire full-auto (which is not permitted if you intend to use it as a DMR).

Playairsoft – a Crowd-sourced List of UK Airsoft Sites
shadowfacex replied to shadowfacex's topic in General Discussion
Yes, of sorts. Initially, it'll not be a voting system, but rather a simple criteria check to see if a given site is good enough to be classified as "outstanding". I'm hoping to employ the help of the community to define these criteria. If a given site meets them, then it gets a special badge on PlayAirsoft that indicates to players that it's better than most. Baby steps. 👌 -
I wish more people would realise that relying on Facebook for anything is a waste of time. Yes, it's free; yes, you can do a bit there; but ultimately, if someone wants your page down, you're gonna go down because Facebook doesn't give a damn. If you're a site owner that needs web presence, there are plenty of free/cheap ways to get started. Wix, Wordpress, Squarespace, Weebly, are just a few website builders. If you don't have the time to build a full website, but you want still the presence/contact, just get your site added to https://playairsoft.uk. Heck, get your site added there anyway. It's free! 🙂 Disclaimer: I'm the creator and maintainer of PlayAirsoft.

Playairsoft – a Crowd-sourced List of UK Airsoft Sites

Nope. What is it? Seem to be hidden behind a registration wall. Can't find any info about it. PSA: I have just deployed new version of the site with the following changes: browse sites by region browse sites using a map see which sites are open/closed at a glance improvements to browsing experience on mobiles As usual, check it out here: https://playairsoft.uk The next step is to feed the rest of my shortlist of 130+ sites into the system. My goal is to have 100+ sites by the end of May 2021. I have already planned additional features, so this will be a very busy year. Keep on rocking folks! -

I promised an update about the site, so here's something that I'm currently working on in my spare time. A highly requested feature: to browse sites using a map. Well, it's coming! Right now it's early days, but as you can see there's already a few sites on here. Both, the map and the list will be in sync, so what you'll see on the map will show on the list. -
This is probably the best depiction here. "Tactical", most often than not, is a configuration that adds stuff like rails, furniture, sights that are more mil-spec/LE oriented, giving you more configuration options as a result for different types of work. Improved hardware/furniture comes at an increased cost. Benelli M4 Standard 👇 Benelli M4 Tactical 👇

I'm sure there are people trailing just behind you who didn't yet managed to qualify for being an airsoft vet. 😎

Hey guys, so it looks like the critical mass has been reached. I've now received 111 responses from you all. Thank you! I promised some data snippets, so here they are, enjoy! I'm still yet to compile and collate all this data, so might take me some time to get into deeper insights and patterns.
-
Guys, thank you so much. The survey is still ongoing (I might keep it for a week before closing), and the community backing has been way better than I anticipated. So far, I've gotten 90 responses and I expected maybe 10–15, so more data points to analyse, it's awesome. If there's anyone who hasn't done the survey, please get on it; it only takes about 5 minutes, so it's short and sweet. Bear in mind the survey is aimed at regular players.

Oh, believe me mate; at the same festival I bought my WARQ helmet with full face protection and I only wear tac-glasses with a facemask from then on. Doesn't justify shooting me in the face, when he had my whole body at his disposal. Could've shot me anywhere, including my boonie hat, that I had on at the time. I was in a combination of shock, disbelief and nerve pain, so by the time I realised what happened that dude was gone without a word. Disgraceful little $%^&. If you make any mistake, own it, own its consequences. You hurt someone — you apologise and make amends.

I started looking to gather a bit more info about how people organise themselves, plan and attend aisoft events in general. I'm trying to make playairsoft.uk a much better source of up-to-date information in the long term, as the response has been really positive in the last month! I'd like to ask members of this forum, could you spare a 5 minutes of your precious time and answer a few questions? Airsoft Player Survey → (Google Form) Survey is 100% anonymous, and the results will be published online (this forum and Twitter) for everyone to benefit from the findings, in the spirit of data openness. Thank you! If you have any comments or questions about the survey, please don't hesitate to ask.

The worst one for me was when I lost part of my front tooth. At NAF2018, during a skirmish in the forest, together with my mate I was suppressing a sniper, laying down some fire from a prone position across the road. Since he was too close to target us with his sniper rifle, he pulled out a handgun and rushed from across the road, ignoring a bunch of BBs hitting him along the way from my own rifle, as well as my mate's. Because why would you want to call "HIT!" when you get hit several times from automatic fire, right? So, he went across the road to our position and opened fire with his pistol. When he got too close (~5 metres), I reached for my pistol and raised my head up, inadvertently opening my mouth as I was looking up at him. Instead of shooting at the rest of my body from 5 metres, this idiot decided to put a couple of rounds directly in my face, hitting my mouth two times. One bruised my lip, the other hit my tooth and chipped it off as a result. Bastard didn't even apologise, and later the root canal treatment didn't manage to save the tooth, and the nerve damage was done also to the other front tooth. Still waiting for my implants to be fitted.

Playairsoft – a Crowd-sourced List of UK Airsoft Sites
shadowfacex replied to shadowfacex's topic in General Discussion
@ak2m4 I did think about it, and it's something to launch when there is enough demand for self-managing airsoft sites. Right not, the site has barely any traffic (~500 visits weekly) because it's fresh, so I'm focusing on airsoft players more than on site owners, as content moderation is often a one-off (do it once and it's done). It all depends on the traction and how helpful something is vs returns it brings to the community. It's hard and time consuming to build content management tools, so I'm deferring that until I am sure a lot of players are relying on PlayAirsoft to discover and engage with sites and venues. It's definitely easier for me to review and edit submissions than it would be to create a whole admin panel with all the things involved, such as security, authentication, spam/flood protection, etc. That said, things can change based on what's going to happen along the way. I like the journey, and the destination is at this point less important. 😄 -
True, a lot of it comes down to availability, which is a topic in and of itself. It actually shines light on our perception of what's available and what's not. G&G I know that SIG55x-series isn't being retailed, and I reckon its because it also hasn't been manufactured anymore. I also own 553, so I can relate to the pains of hunting down mags, especially the low-cap ones (for some reason I like changing mags on my SG553 quite frequently). Some halo guns, like the PDR-C, have come and gone in very limited quantities and PTS Syndicate definitely doesn't make them anymore. It's a solid bullpup, however. I need to take a closer look at the HK45; I love the look of that pistol. My wishlist however has the CZ P10c at the top, which is nowhere to be found yet. Oh, and don't tell me it's just a Czech Glock. You can get a boot for that where I come from. 😆

What Are People Doing for UKARA Nowadays?
shadowfacex replied to rj1986's topic in General Discussion
From mine and my mate's experience with UKARA renewals, it's all up to the club/site you register with. At the one we're registered, you can set up automatic renewal each year as long as you're a member. You still have to get your first three games with them initially, but as long as you've been previously registered, they should renew it for you at their discretion. Also, unless the rules have recently changed UKARA is a valid defence from purchasing RIFs from retailers, not owning or playing with them. If you already own a RIF, you don't technically need UKARA. That said, I am happy to be corrected, if any of this is a bull... -
I'm not an expert on this, and this may be out of date info, so please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we permitted only to discharge RIFs outdoors within a mile from residential areas? Like I said, I may be wrong and I don't have a citation to hand to confirm this, so if anyone can clarify, please do. I have set up a simple target practice in my garage, using bell targets and for simple pistol shooting drills is perfectly fine, doesn't endanger anyone but me. I'm shooting all three of my pistols (all gassed, two GBB) and sometime rifle when I'm practicing transitions. From my next-door neighbour, who's a police officer, I've heard it sometimes sounds like I'm just doing some work in the garage using a nail gun or something. No nuisance. All in all, I'd love to have a longer range, but due to space restrictions and unwillingness to scare my neighbours I'll stick to the garage for the foreseeable future.

Playairsoft – a Crowd-sourced List of UK Airsoft Sites
shadowfacex replied to shadowfacex's topic in General Discussion
I'm looking to provide the community with some reporting tools, but for now everything is static, so if you find anything that is incorrect, feel free to email me at [email protected]. I'll be happy to make amends. In fact, I've done so just today, as Anzio Camp's GPS coordinated were a bit off. I'd appreciate if mods would consider sticking this in a relevant place, as it provides people with helpful and accurate information about places to play in the UK. -
Playairsoft – a Crowd-sourced List of UK Airsoft Sites
shadowfacex replied to shadowfacex's topic in General Discussion
The map is in the works, and I started scraping some of the data from AirsoftRanch as well, but lots of this data leads to nowhere, so it's a slow process. For example, yesterday it took me about an hour to find all the info I needed for 3 sites from a single organiser. As for the roadmap, I can share a little bit: More filtering options Countrywide map of airsoft sites to browse and pan around Support for location services to show what's near you Grading system to establish "recommended" sites -
I’ve been working on this project for a few weeks, where I’ve started to gather info on airsoft sites from all over the UK. I have built a database of these and created a website where you can browse and find information about these sites, all in one convenient place. PlayAirsoft UK People who want to have a website for their airsoft locations/clubs are not generally well versed in information architecture and they don’t typically have a budget to spend on professional services to make their websites or even basic information well designed and accessible. I'm hoping to take this burden off their shoulders and give them solid tools join in on the action without much fuss. I was annoyed that there was no central place with more info about nearby sites so I could pick one for my next weekend. PlayAirsoft is an answer to this and other issues. The functionality is currently limited because I only just started, but the info is solid; I’ve spent hours scavenging and verifying all the information about the sites you'll see there. There aren’t a lot locations as of right now, but I'm hoping that with your help, we can have a universal place to find more sites. If you have a favourite airsoft location that isn’t listed or know a site owner, use the link below to suggest a new site to be listed. All submissions are reviewed beforehand, as I would like to have the most accurate info on these places as possible. https://airtable.com/shrpMw7Xx1UiVErke Feel free to use this topic as a way to provide feedback, suggestions, and report issues. I’m hoping that PlayAirsoft will provide you with a reliable and accessible way to plan your next airsoft adventure. Enjoy and let me know what you think!

There's never enough S&W handguns on the market, I'm afraid. That reminds me, I know this is already on the market, but I'd love a proper sturdy replica of FN FiveSeven, because those by TM and CyberGun are just poor substitutes. The slide is so prone to damage in skirmish, it's a wall piece at best.

I honestly never seen one being available, same for XM8. Must be super rare in the UK, just like my Magpul PDR-C. As for FAMAS, I think TM discontinued them (F1) a while back and nobody even makes the FAMAS G2 at all. At least I couldn't find one for my best mate, who has the old TM FAMAS F1. Same for SG550-series. If you find one, it must be quite old and not even supported anymore. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.
