These are some sexy set ups chief… nice Old-School M4 at the top… and the slinky URGI modern style at the bottom ?? this is some solid advice to bear in mind… I will absolutely have to think about this especially re: after-market parts & replacement bits down the line… seems that the TM/MWS system may be the way to go… May be a limiting factor, being stuck with the AR platform, but I’m honestly quite happy about that. I like AR15s & SCARs, so it works quite well for me ✌️ I’ve tried a lot of other styles (AKs, Bullpups, Sig’s & MP5s) and I keep coming back to the AR platform… whether that’s out of lack of options for parts, plain interest, or even just lack of imagination… I’m pretty happy with that. its just whether to go down the WE open bolt, or MWS route… and the way it’s going it will likely be the MWS option, due to parts availability & GiantKiwi’s experience with the WE flavour GBBR. good points well made though!! Thanks all for the input!! Massively value the experienced GBBR players pitching in for a GBBR-Noob ✌️ may be that I stick with the AEGs a tad longer to see how the aftermarket parts market is, but there’s deffo some good food for thought here ?

think this may have just won me over… tactical-haribo in the pistol grip is an 11/10 ? This is a nice streamlined set-up!!! liking that grip too… very L129/Sharpshooter-esque ?

Thanks to everyone so far… this is some good info for me to work with & greatly appreciated. The VFC & GHK seem pretty well regarded, along with the price being higher & their own supply/aftermarket options being a little more limited than the TM & MWS options. Seems that the consensus is MWS out of the box, due to efficiency & performance, quality, accuracy, cost - along with general availability of parts for aftermarket upgrades (by the sounds these may not even be needed). Just need to figure out which one now… and that debate continues, as to whether a TM, DE, or other base. There are so many options out there… Sounds like everyone (so far) has had good experiences with the MWS & WE options! With regards to aftermarket parts for MWS bases - any good recommendations for pistol grips? Considering looking into the standard PTS options…

So I’ve been airsofting for the better part of 20 years & worked my way through a whole load of AEGs in this time, including TM, VFC, KWA, G&P, G&G, ICS, a long with various Chineseium & CYMA Platforms… got a fair amount of experience in tech including rebuilding & scratch building various AEGs, so am familiar with a lot of the manufacturers available on the market… However, the time has come to branch out into GBBRs… Having dived into the various GBBR threads, there are clearly a lot of opinions about various brands (as well as debates on the levels of “realism” of some platforms), along with all the aftermarket upgrades etc to consider too… Having looked into availability of upgrades/aftermarket bits, it all depends where you go/look - and that’s cool. The question is, what would you (the people) recommend… Either a WE Open bolt AR-15, OR, an MWS (TM/Clone) based system? Be as honest/blunt as you want to be. Any experienced creatures, please tell me positives & negatives of either (or both). Thanks in advice ?

I’m going to have to look into these things… I’ve heard good things about the Crazy Jet barrel and Maple leaf rubber combo??

noted… I’m going to trawl through the internet and see what I can find. i know that the barrels are the VSR style barrels, not the standard AEG ones, so deffo going to have a look at Hops & rubbers ? that’s a pretty good fighting scale of rounds ready to go!! deffo feeing that 6 may be the magic number here!!! if you want to keep me I. The loop with how those work out, that would be awesome!! ?

Seems like WE GBBRs are pretty solid all rounders there then… especially if parts are relatively well available!! Any advice ref the hop units for the SCAR-H at all?! I may have bought a couple of GBBR SCAR-H mags off here recently… ? will deffo keep an eye out for more!! now wondering how many Mags people use for GBBRs. based on previous experience, I recon 5 or 6 should be enough… any thoughts?

Thanks for the advice ref: mag pouches on that one. Figured as it’s a 7.62 platform this would be the best option. Now to raid UK tactical for their mag pouch selection… ? sound advice ref the base plates too… will have a look at sniper taping them up, or getting some 7.62 magpuls for additional loss prevention. i’ll deffo have to pick up a few more mags & have a look at the screws etc ?

Hi all, I’m a relatively experienced airsofter & have been playing with AEGs for the past 18 years… Recently I’ve dipped my toe into the GBBR world & come into possession of a WE open bolt SCAR H. This thing is an absolute beast & the recoil is mega. Just wondering what the verdict is on these things? Like, what’s the life expectancy of the stock parts… is there anything I should consider upgrading before even playing with it? Any advice ref parts & reliable UK based retailers/stockists for said parts would be great. Thanks in advance!! Picture is just for attention…
