  1. Well, I went searching for Competitors to the G&G CM16, Anything cheap enough doesn't tend to be a Design I'm fond of (Since that would be either WWII, or British) But I've found a few that would perhaps be preferable to the M16. Namely the G&G MP5 (Which I like with the EBB) and the CYMA M14 AEG. Both are designs I prefer to the M16, But neither are as Practical; The MP5 has no rails, The M14 only has a Sight rail, no Torch. What ever the case perhaps I could get the L86 then a Cheaper backup? Depends how I feel when I have £130, I'll decide then If it's worth getting one of these.

  2. As it goes, my first AEG was the ICS L86A2 Carbine and it was an alright gun, it didn't shoot as well as my APS Mini Patriot which cost a lot less and had a barrel under half the length.

I hear good things about CYMAs AKs and JG g36s too I think a 270 quid starter gun is a bit ott. Then again maybe I am just poor or tight or both!

Well, Budgets more just a matter of time than anything else, If I've got something to save for then I'll work my ass of for it until I have exactly what I planned to get, But for that to be the case I need to know what I'm gonna look forward to getting! :)

And as far as the Sten goes, I've basically ruled that out already. It's just between the other two now, And I still can't decide. As far as I've gathered, The CM16 is best for performance, and basically everything, But the L86A2 Carbine Is just sooooooooo awesome. I think I'd be willing to sacrifice a little performance for that. But, it is over 2x more so I'm still in two minds. All I can do is keep narrowing it down.

  3. -Chose to look at other G&G M4s-

    So, I've been making various posts about different AEG Starter Rifles, And From all the feed back I've got It's come down to Three designs. I'm going to list all the pros and Cons from my Point of view, and Put it down to a Vote. It doesn't mean I'll get the one that's voted, I may change my mind by the time I get enough money, I've changed my mind enough as it it. But the ones I keep going back and forth from are these Three;

    AGM Sten Mk.II AEG

    AGM-Sten-MKII-Full-Metal-AEG-230915-1.JP

    -Pros

    Very nice WWII Design

    Full Metal Body

    Cheap Mags

    Small

    £150 (Average price)

    Simple AEG

    Good Range / Accuracy

    Real Cap Mag

    -Cons

    Only Full auto

    Hard to access Battery

    Uncomfortable Grip

    Hard To Hold

Large mag, Not many cheap Pouches

Over all, I will eventually get this anyway, as I plan to get a WWII British Infantry and Paratrooper Getup, It's just not very practical or Ergonomic for a first gun.

    G&G CM16 Raider-L AEG

    C-16P-RDL.jpg

    -Pros

    Very Practical and Ergonomic

    Semi/Full auto selector

    £120

    High Cap Mag

    Highly recommended by, well, Everyone.

    Great backup gun

    -Cons

    I don't like M16s

It'll set me back £120 that I could put towards a gun I like more

Not many others... I just mainly really don't like M16s

    ICS L86A2 Carbine AEG

    _1000_47FAI.jpg?width=500&height=392&sca

    -Pros

    AEG

    High Cap Mag

    Short version, good for CQB

People say L85s often are uncomfortable, But Imagining it, If anything I think I'd like it more. But can't tell until I've tried one (May see if I can test someone else's)

    Well, It's British.

    Full/Semi auto

    Cheap Mags

    -Cons

    £270

No rails for my Table Lamp.

    Sight rail is 19mm

    Doesn't come with Battery

Overall, the L85 Is one of my all time Favorite guns, and I really like this AEG, But I've not decided on just this because of people's recommendations, and Because I don't want to get a Gun I won't like, especially for £270.

I hope that I'll be joining you guys on the Battle Field soon, And I hope some people who are looking at these guns perhaps find my pros and cons useful :) I'd welcome opinions, and recommendations.

  4. It's the nozzle o ring, it just helps with the seal between the hopup and the nozzle, my we m4 is running without one and was still firing 380 on Sunday.. Shouldn't do too much harm

Turns out there was one place that Could've gotten stuck in the Mag, I hadn't considered that the second time it jammed differently, it fired it instead of getting stuck with the BBs. I just noticed it was missing off of my Speed loader! XD What a Coincidence that it fit the nozzle!

So it never was in the gun, fell off during loading.

  5.

Just out of interest, are you going since seeing my suggestive post above?

Yeah, a review would be good too

    I suggested it too :)

I may post a review if I find the time, It'll be my first game too :D

I'm planning on taking a printed aerial picture with me, gonna draw out all the sectors and zones etc.

  6. My lee Enfield is by Iron Airsoft. They made 1 batch a couple of years ago. They were prone to problems and my one no longer works. Still great for reenactment though.

The shoot and scoot Lee enfields are currently the best bet. However there is information that Red Wolf Airsoft may be making a no4 based on a VSR10 sometime soon.

    unD6kXmNxcU.jpg

Well, I won't have enough for a Shoot N' Scoot until this is out anyway, I'll decide which I get closer to the time. Very cool though :)

    12751453_684166475019889_1179492710_n.jp

    How much do you think?

Found some more info, still don't know if it's going to be affordable, but looks nice none the less.

    - the prototype was made on VSR-10 design, so the overall dimensions are shifted to fit it, they did not know that L-96/MP-001 is somewat better to start from, with smaller bolt diameter

    - back sight will be replaced with more common adjustable model

    - hop-up chamber will fit VSR-type rubber, but of RWA manufacture (slightly smaller in inner diameter)

    - RWA office in the UK is currently holding a discussion with English weapon's specialists, trying to improve the design according to actual de-activated Enfields. No information whether the prototype rifle was also shipped to UK for inspection

    - no information on magazine

    - aluminium body is being considered. Surely not a steel, but they DO try to move from aluminium alloys to get it more durable.

  7. Also check out whatpriceglory.com and http://stores.ebay.co.uk/spearheadmilitaria/

Bear in mind that British battledress is made from the itchiest scratchiest wool imaginable. Denim battledress is an option and is also cheaper.

Epicmilitaria.com is also worth a look

    I did a guide a while back: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/22158-ww2-airsoft-for-dummies/

Spearhead is where I got my Australian Service dress (awesome soft merino wool and massive pockets). whatpriceglory is where I got my Jungle greens and Khaki drill.

    Very useful links, thanks :)

I Also noticed you have a Lee Enfield, Where on earth did you find an Airsoft one of those! I found some modified ones, but they look like they'd be a bit dodgy performance and mechanics wise: http://www.shootandscoot.co.uk/shop/lee-enfield-no-4/

  8. Be aware that if you decide to get WW2 kit then it starts getting expensive. Check out ww2airsoft.org.uk though as it does open up some very fun games.

Both my main guns are actually the AGM Sten. One is stock and the other has been used as a base for a custom made Owen gun for use with Australian gear.

Magazines for the Sten come in 2 sizes. AGM makes 50 round magazines and King Arms makes 110 round magazines (they actually hold 130ish). The King Arms mags can be hard to get hold of and use less metal, they can sometimes have issues fitting into Stens (the same mags work on MP40's. If you have issues with King Arms mags, there are various fixes that you can do though.

As the magazines are not high caps you will either need lots of them or will need to learn to control your bursts to save ammo.

WW2 Australian Jungle Greens, P37 webbing and my custom Owen gun (background may have been photoshopped a little bit):

    .

Yeah, I'd get a British Infantry uniform if anything, I've found where to get it from, But I'm not gonna get it for a while. Gonna get the guns first, I just like the sten and thought I'd rather get it than get a G&G and then eventually a Sten.

The main bits, You get the idea:

    P.S Nice reflection ;)

  9. It's the nozzle o ring, it just helps with the seal between the hopup and the nozzle, my we m4 is running without one and was still firing 380 on Sunday.. Shouldn't do too much harm

Thanks, They really should've glued it on!

  10. First rule: Everybody is biased. Trust no one individual. Many retailers are heavily biased.

Ive never had an ICS so Im heavily biased against them, but I've handled a couple and not been overly impressed.

I have a lot of G&G and have been impressed, so I would recommend their starter gun range.

I wouldnt recommend ARES based on what Ive read on this forum.

Read the comments on here - there are some good newbie articles and once you have a gun in mind, watch all the You Tube reviews on it. YT has taught me some interesting things about airsoft rifles I was considering.

Yeah, Videos are your friend, Never buy a gun you haven't seen in action.

And my whole opinion on ICS Is based on one video, so Don't trust me :P

    (The Video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RdSzRCeqXM&index=11&list=PLIOKEwUpTbjq_eBjiOc65q-NjqGIosoI2 )

  11. I have made a ridiculous amount of posts, but I felt this was important.

I recently found a Small rubber ring jammed in my G23's Mag, I looked at all the places it could be, it fit perfectly around the Thingy that picks up the BBs, Which I assumed was to create a gas seal with the Hop up unit. However, It recently jammed again and fired the Seal. Which is bad. because I was shooting at a hedge. So there's no way I'm getting it back, but it doesn't seem to have affected the gun, it still appears to work fine. I don't have a Chrono so I don't know if it's firing at lower FPS. I can only assume that if they put a part in the gun, it was necessary, So I'm wondering if anyone knows what it is and if I need it.

    It goes here:

    QDyXRAn.jpg

I appreciate I've been making a lot of question posts, and The majority of them noob mistakes, But this time I think this is a Topic worthy of posting.

  12. It's any 'bright colour' - bright blue is fine.

Again though, if you're under 18 then you can't buy anyway. In practice that usually just means making sure your parents know if it's online as legally they're the ones meant to be buying it.

Yeah, when I buy one I pay them, then they buy it, That's what you mean?

  13. Well, I couldn't say specifics since I've never handled any of them, But I've had Glowing recommendations of G&G CM's. From what I've seen ICS Are also very good though, But more pro guns than starters. Depends how much your willing to spend, Airsoft isn't something you can do on a Budget. (I'm hoping to get a AMG Sten Mk.II, then an ICS L85A2 Carbine)

  14. Can't even buy a 2-tone under 18 really, but you can have your parents do it.

Usually I wouldn't mention such things but as you have a YouTube channel you need to make yourself familiar with the law so as not to spread bad information if you ever say anything off-hand in a video.

Those threads in the second link I posted on the other page have everything that you need to know :)

Please be sure to do your due diligence as airsoft is a hobby that regularly comes under threat in the UK, so we all have a responsibility to know the law. If you intend to publicise airsoft-related content then this is especially important.

I looked through, and I noticed Blue isn't in the Colour list, I'm assuming it's an acceptable colour?

Sucks about that Bill though, Didn't realise it was such a big limitation.

  15. Yeah that video was pretty good. So what are the main differences between an E1 and an E2 if any at all?

Well, The Grip is slightly different, other than that not much. I just prefer the E1. Partially because of the Grip partially because it's used by NCIS :3

    E1:

    GP-KJW-608-226.jpg

    E2:

    TM-GBB-P226E2-B.JPG

  16. Why not save the money, play a few games first, then start shopping for a proper AEG? Instead of buying gas pistols?

    Cus they're smexy :3

And I'm not planning on getting this until after a Good AEG, I do plan things like a maniac :P I have Favorites folders divided into Pistol/Rifle subfolders, then different sites and addons in each folder!

  17. There are 3 brands of thompson worth even looking at: TM and King Arms.make the best ones by a long way. Cyma do a basic one which should be okayish.

If you read the legal section, the rule about being 18 applies to the buyer in selling a RIF (non 2-tone)or IF (2-tone). It doesn't apply to converting an IF to a RIF. As long as you can prove that you have a valid reason (ie that you are an airsofter) then you can remove the paint.

L85's are cool but almost all versions have reliability issues so I would suggest that they are a good 2nd main weapon and not really good as a 1st buy. You want something reliable that will not break down as a fall back before you get something more exotic.

If you want something different to the usual M4 and you already have a pistol for any single shot only games, ASG (also sold as AGM) make a very good Sten. It has several drawbacks in that it has no semi auto or safety and you cannot get high cap magazines but it is relatively cheap, it's very reliable and accurate and its made of steel so will not break if you drop it. You will want a few spare magazines for it as they are not high cap.

If the person buying it has UKARA: http://www.taiwangun.com/en/electric-3/agm-058?from=listing&campaign-id=19

    Otherwise: http://www.onlybbguns.co.uk/058-agm-mkii-british-ww2-sten-aeg-rifle-full-metal.html#.VuyS7fmLSUk

Incidentally I do not suggest buying stuff from onlybbguns.co.uk unless you know what you are looking for, like all sites with bbguns in the name they do sell some rubbish. They do however sell a few good items and I have never had problems with them.

Wow, I'd given up on finding a Good Sten Mk.II, Thank you good sir! Maybe I'll get that before the ICS, It'd certainly be more affordable (Once I get a job that is) How many leaflet deliveries can it take to get £150? XD

Hopefully eventually I'll be able to get some WWII British kit, Found some uniforms but I think I'd rather get the guns first. http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/1940-bd-battle-dress-jacket-product,3186 They actually sell the AGM Sten on that site too, just noticed.

  18. This one looks quite nice. I've been looking at the WE P226 E2. Thoughts?

Don't know much about it myself, But I watched a good video on all the P226s

Well, This is just E1s, Don't know much about the E2, I don't like the grip shape.

I know in all respects KJWs seem better from this review, apart from Paint and Gas seals. But honestly the rest is just minor differences, and Probably differs with the E2. And You can always get some WE Or Marui mags, since they all fit.

  19.

Agreed - but I only have the cheaper Army R85 and "some" others but still prefer the M4 over most of them

AK's - I can't quite get my head or rather right hand around the fire selector

Guess I'd maybe have to pick a G36 after M4 but this is just my personal findings

But M4's I find are a lot more ergonomic and easy to pick up n shoot/use

(just a case of getting used to it I guess - but L85's are not always the super gun many think they love to get)

Get decent M4, get out skirmishing and maybe you will get a chance to have a little feel & shoot with one before you jump in & buy a L85

btw - I'm not trying to tell what you to buy and all that, just my own personal view on stuff I have learnt when buying peew peew toy guns

Yeah, It couldn't hurt to be more cautious :)

But If I get a Chance to try the L85 before I get anything else, then I can make my mind up before buying anything. If it is something I Like then I'd rather go straight for it than spend £100 on a Gun that, while looks very good performance wise, isn't something I really like the looks of. Still, Things are a lot different Irl.
