  • Receiver on the KA PDW is bent to all fuck. Knew it was but haven't noticed HOW MUCH until now.

Talk me out of buying a thermal please ?

disagree with the people saying you won't use it that much. you do have to be honest with yourself about that question.  But I use my expensive stuff quite a bit and I know people that use it more. Playing at night with your mates all nodded up is as good as airsoft gets imo. I absolutely but hopefully politely disagree with the people saying to get random guns/gear/bs instead! thermal will actually change your experience of actually playing airsoft. most airsoft guns give you the same experience lets face it.

    Alright guys here's the thing:

I already have too many guns, all of them do the same thing with a slightly different flavour, some do it faster, some do it quieter, but the end result is the same, a BB is thrown against another person with a reasonable degree of repeatability. No point in having more, since I can only use one at the time.

Gear wise I have three rigs that get used regularly for different purposes, 4 if we count the smersh (that will be put up for sale soon). Same as above applies.

The only two things I have yet to put my mitts on are NV and thermal.

I'm not new to either and thermal is by far the most versatile of the two.

I've already looked at one option (Hikmicro thunder 2.0 model th35p) and Saturday I will have a closer look at the Sightmark mini wraith thermal, both units are 384 core, both units are around the €2k mark and have similar specs.

In any case by Saturday night I will own a thermal optic..

Regarding NV, I already have plans on getting some by the end of the year under a reasonable budget (say 2k, Alexi housing + nnvt gen 2+ tube), and then I'll figure out how to use it without having to wear a helmet or one of those medieval style torture devices.

Power to you then man - if you've got plenty of pews and gear you're more than happy with then - why not? Hope you end up enjoying the purchase as thermal/NV stuff is really cool

Just realised that the King Arms PDW has a proprietary upper receiver....

    And mine is slightly bent....

TFW you work long hours and you can't sort your guns:

Out of 4 AEGs, only one is in working order...

Someone please help me (with my mental illnesses)...

    I'm buying a Land Rover!

Yeah I'm fully aware of the "peculiarities" of Discos :P  I want a TD5, V8 is way too expensive to run and maintain at this time.

Saw the 4.5k one today, it's been heavily neglected and the owner doesn't even know half of the systems the car has...

Didn't know what ACE was, he replaced the SLS air bags for random springs, the engine runs smooth but sounds like the drive belt is done for (even though the Td5 runs on two chains), transfer box was caked in oil, dirt and shit..

It leaked from the sunroofs, electric windows were busted and the airbag (SRS) too.

It felt like I needed to spend another 3 to 4k to make it safely run on tarmac, and THEN mod it for offroading for another idk, 3/4k..

Found two more, about € 9 to 9.5k, in much, much better shape:

9.5k€ - 263.000kms - ARB twin air lockers (mechanical CDL), Remapped NNN ECU, 3.5" lift (2" suspension, 1.5" body), winch, HD bars and a bunch of other stuff done

9k - 200.000kms but the engine only has 50k - CDL, 2" lift and other stuff done..

Both within a 1.5h drive from me...

It was a sad day when the last proper Defender was pushed off the production line and towed home by their new owners.

I owned a TD5, definitely pick one over a V8. Really easy to work on yourself if you're confident with tools, I used to service mine myself!

Common issues are leaky sunroofs, rear air suspension failing, oil leaking into the wiring looms and the rear quarter chassis corroding away.

    Ruined a PTS grip yesterday.

Applied threadlock and it INSTANTLY hardened, for some reason ?

    T
    Tactical Pith Helmet
    Shit!  What brand?

    Skara
    Skara
    It was a PTS EPG-C.

Comfy, but not the best for motor alignment.

Threadlock was loctite green (which is strong, but I've never had it have a boner the moment I put it somewhere).

Not a big deal, I meant to replace it with a bog standard A2 grip anyway because in terms of motor alignment you just can't beat those.

    What if I turn a ML MR-Hop into a R-Hop?

    You have a ML MRR-Hop

    Tracer unit suggestions anyone?

Need one for an upcoming tournament :)

Yes xcortech 301 is pretty good and also the wosport spitfire especially effective when used with gas guns.

As @strykerlessays the xcortech has a long lasting battery.

I'm looking at something cost effective, I'm not going to use it that much to be fair, especially since 0.30g tracers are stupidly expensive and almost impossible to find.

    Maybe a Brighter C?

    Steveocee
    Steveocee
@Skara The brighter C is a very cost effective unit if you plan on "only" throwing greens. It's more or less the smallest on the market, is one of the brightest ones and has a nice auto off feature.

I'm a little biased as mine has been amazing for the last year.

    I must be cursed.

At first, the unity riser I got from AliExpress went back to China because the courier was retarded, then I ordered one specific stock and received a different one, then ordered two Helikon windstoppers that were never posted, now I ordered a Maxx ME Sport hop unit and got a Pro.

    What the fuck?

Next time I'll make sure to buy something :D

For real though, I have never filed so many refund requests.

    Welcome to Internet shopping ?

Energy loss in semi, but not in full auto.

That's a new one for me!

'twas the FPS cylinder that for some reason was acting up.

Reverted to the old Specna cylinder and the muzzle energy is very consistent (again).

Of course I have to shim the retro arms gearbox inside the receiver -.-

    Fucking Airsoft and its "standards"

Nvm, turns out the outer barrel was shit and forced the hop unit to sit at an angle.

Tournament tomorrow, a bit nervous because I am the team leader.

Also we are forced to use brown BBs which means nobody will either hit shit or call hits.

    Recipe for disaster tbf

I use coloured BBs to identify weights.  About 5% of my .25s are black, .32 are grey, .20s green etc.

Geoffs Black and G&G green work fine.  G&G do light brown from memory.

Good luck with your next game!

    Yep, we sucked.

11th out of 14. Definitely need to work on my "leading" skills.

It's all a learning curve.   Teamwork is not my forte tbh.

I kinda feel bad for replacing my Perun Optical with a Hybrid. I may build a gun/gearbox just to use it again!

I don't regret replacing the Titan though.

Who had "2 hours, 51 minutes" in the Regrets Sweepstake?

    Just a quick one:

My AK does 24/25 RPS on a 7.4v battery, it has a 36k warhead + SHS 12:1 gears.

What ROF am I looking at with 18:1s?

    Adolf Hamster
    Adolf Hamster
    Rough estimate somewhere around(25rps*12)/18=~16-17rps

Ofc might be a tad higher than that as the relative load on the motor will be lower with the lower ratio.

Maybe 16:1 might be better gives an estimate of 18-19rps

    Skara
    Skara
    Yeah, figured something like that.

I'll get a 16:1 set then, hopefully it'll bring the RPS down enough to make the gun feed fine on high caps, gonna short stroke by 4 (1 pickup, 3 release) to keep the same energy output.

    Skara
    Skara
Change of plans, I'll use a 18:1 set instead.
