Having run M4 platforms for the last 10 ish years I’m looking to do something different.

Can anyone suggest a good base AK rifle (preferably AK74u size but not a necessity) that has plenty of options for upgrading?

I’d appreciate some opinions

If you have the skill any platform can be upgraded. Pick a gun you like and go for it.

AEG's are inherently more subjectable to upgrading, they all use the same standardised V3 gearbox so... Any AK will be upgradeable.

Look for an AK you like that's in your base gun budget, use it, find out what it needs upgrading, research parts within your budget to upgrade with... It's all very subjective to budget, what you want to achieve and what the platform itself needs
