  • Had to clean the hop rubber in my CM.028u.  The lad got a bit liberal with the silicone oil...

Bloody palaver compared to an M4, managed to crack the housing round the tiny screw that holds the underside of the battery compartment/dust cover holder/slide.  Only needed a washer to make good, and probably could have got away without using one but still.

The wires are so damn short that the fuse holder sits under the cover too.  Couldn't be arsed to get the soldering iron out, and no thin wire sitting bout anyway.

    Not a lazy man's rifle.

Namsoft next weekend and the AKs have to be in prime nick.  Dụ má mày yankee!

yeah ak's can be fun to work with depending on how they're setup.

you get used to it though, whilst barrel access aint as good at least you don't have to have half the externals dissassembled just to get to the gearbox.

Very true, the pinned models are very handy to work with.  The CYMA uses cheaper screws, and for a sub £100 rifle its astounding.   Pays your money etc...

I think that they make a good base for custom builds too.

I do have a habit of shedding mags though; I think due to using a mag grip equipped M4 a lot more.  I must catch the release with my (gloved) thumb tip.

the jg's/cyma's in the ak world are good shooters, bit of tinkering and they'll deliver the goods no bother when it comes to the fundamental task of slinging plastic downrange.

generally with the likes of the lct's/e&l's what you're paying for is the exterior quality.

Well...   fucking great day at Gunman Tuddenham.  Good gameplay, really aggressive play from the green team and some hard pushes from the banded team too.  Lots of BBs gone south.  Positive kill to death count.  New (to me) pew worked faultlessly.

Only thing was forgetting to take my pain killers at lunchtime.  I took them when I stopped play, but depressing the clutch pedal was agony all the way home.

Picked up my M14 from the on site gnu guru.  It now shoots supernaturally good.  Seriously, give Theatre 1 Airsoft a look.  As a former engineer, I cannot work the magic that Roman lays on what he plays with.  I now have the best beastiest airsoft rifle I have seen in my gun cabinet.

Thoroughly recommend this site, and this very special tech.

    Jesus wept!

My thighs ache like fuck.  I can hardly keep my eyes open, and I feel fantastic.

Great day at Tuddenham with Gunman today.  Perhaps going for a long run yesterday to warm up was not such a good idea...

After lunch my painful back was feeling much better and my shoulders and neck were much looser.  Airsoft is great physio.  Hot shower and a walk of a couple of miles to warm down.

I'll do some bag work tomorrow, and a couple of rounds with the lad if he's not too tired after college.

    Yep, I can imagine.

I found myself not so much steadying myself against the trees but positively using them for support.

One of the reasons I love this so much is that you simply push yourself into physical action for so long.  I don't mind squash etc, but you'd never play that for four or five hours, let alone a full weekend!

that was me at the end!! although changed tappet spring out right near the end as had been getting stressed with the gun all day lol

haha totally was 6hrs total gameplay pretty much never use to push myself that hard skating lol

So... having moaned about the barrel support on G&G M4s, I did the obvious thing and bought another one (thanks to Shooting Aces!).

I have fitted a very curvy sculpted grip and a similar sculpted magwell grip.  I really fancy a chunky round profile stock to complement them both and the big fat round forend.   Something shaped like a flat bottomed tick that doesn't alter the standard cheek weld would be favourite.

    Any ideas?

P.S. each pay day I'm buying stuff to fit to this.   So far I have a load of marked shims, new bushings, SHS 12:1 gears, hi-torque motor, Perun mosfet, 16AWG wiring, lightweight piston and new cylinder/nozzle, ZCI barrel and hop unit etc.

Sounds about right ! When you come down to it I think most of us are just Pavlov’s dog in clothes ? ?

    Yep.  Spot bargain rifle?

Proceed to chuck several of the externals and most of the internals away straight away for a tiny incremental benefit.

    Repeat...

ZCI plastic rotary hop fitted to the G&G, grubscrews tightened, new stiffer spring on the hop unit.  Brilliant service and price from AK2M4.

    Rifle shoots bob on again.

No excuse for a new rifle now.

Pondering a new shell and building a 12 tooth V2 box with a hi-torque motor.  Easy enough to switch back to standard if I ever had to sell.

    Any recommendations gratefully received.

get yourself a E&C box with some 13:1s, either ZCI or SHS HT motors and call it a day.

    Interesting question Skara!

I'd say bob on in this case is measured in the amount of frustration and swearing avoided by the lack of wandering barrel/hop setting.

About as scientific as as 'about right' I know, but I've an idea of how accurate it needs to be for a plastic flinger.

Getting fed up with the lack of accuracy with my G&G CM16.  FPS wise it's consistent.  The decent tightbore and bucking are fine, but the plastic build lets the barrel move.

The super low weight and ergonomics have made it my lazy go to for years, but frustration is setting in.  Shame as I really like the super reliability, fit, ease of maintenance and pointability.

Suppose a new M4 is on the cards.   What to get?

Isnt plumbing tape the airsoft trick for this people wrap it round the barrel and the hop for airseal. I had severe accuracy issues with my specna arms E11 a while ago, bought a zci hop unit, madbull tightbore and maple leaf bucking and nub, then i sent it off to The cage airsoft techs. They fixed it real good it shoots like a laser atm.

If you want a no frills M4 that just runs and runs, TM M4 CRW high cycle.

    A teammate has one and it's retarded 25 rps on a 7.4...

Factor in a zci hop unit with a maple leaf rubber to lift them heavies and you're golden.

Cheers fellows.  I'll try a new hop and tape it if it's still loose.

If I get no joy tinkering I'll have a gandar at the TM.

It was frustrating on Sunday to get hit by the lad shooting my el cheapo CYMA AK as my shots spanged around him at random.

Seriously, it was very slightly loose from the box, albeit years ago.  A wobbly receiver is never going to be the base for an accurate rifle.
