yep, keep some speedloaders in common weights on hand incase you have reason to doubt a players claim, and make sure there's a hard backstop to the chrono range so you can hear a reason to doubt a players claim.

then just tape a strip of paper with the fps conversions for each bb weight at the site joule limit on the chrono so you don't have to re-set the weight settings or try to do math on the fly.



yep, guns do fucky things when the hop is all the way on or all the way off, best to set with the setting you're gonna use in game.

the other issue with .2's is ofc the gats that will legimitately come up kosher only for them to be spicy when the player puts their game weight in. no malice required only ignorance.


my other favourite is not bothering to chrono pistols, unless they're co2, because it's simply not possible to drop a longer barrel in.......

Running the ASG Mk23 with its suppressor attached provides a significant power uplift; I always kept an eye on players chronoing them without it when I was chrono marshal.

A site I was planning on attending

Another great afternoon at Blackstone last Sunday. Numbers were a touch on the low side at around the mid to low 20s but with the size of the site it still allowed a good mix of firefights and opportunities to be sneaky. Teams appeared to be pretty well balanced too with both rentals and more experienced players in equal numbers on both sides. Hit taking was excellent too and I didn't see or hear of anyone complaining about it although the marshalls did remind everyone part way through about not prefiring corners but once again I didn't see any of this personally.

The only downside to the day was my own fault as I didn't realise my hpa tank for the shotgun was almost empty with just enough air left to allow me to get set up before it died at chrono. Fortunately though another player gave me a refill (a big thanks if you're reading this)

Will definitely be going back

I tried Battlezone Edinburgh on Sunday, went into it knowing that its primarily a paintball site. By Scottish safezone standards, this is god tier. Car park is properly pressed in hard standing on gravel. Large open plan safezone with all the benches under roofing, with lighting. There was an actual full on toilet block!! Chrono opened at around 9 on a 30m range with a hard back wall, chrono was done with proper charts for bb weights and multiple functioning chronos that could compensate for that.

Site layout is very woodland paintball, large-ish arenas with very clear and obvious lanes - there was plenty of cover for the most part, including a rarity for me at a lofty 7ft+, cover I could actually stand up behind that wasn't a tree. Marshall's knew what was going on for each game, and if you get lost they gave clear, simple guidance on where to go - something that has to be stated, as its no guarantee up here.

Didn't do the full day as my knee stability was playing up, so kept giving way at inopportune moments - would definitely revisit it (preferably on a cold/wet day, as humidity under the trees was unbearably high).

Fort's a good site just marred with the chrono issue and the parking bollocks (The safezone is drop off kit, then park on the otherside of the main road at the bottom of the hill on hard standing normally used for storing manure - which wasn't made clear on their website at all, apparently i was expected to look at a random post on facebook or discord to glean that information).

Oh yeah I forgot about the car park at The Fort literally being made of cow shit. Like walls of it bulldozed up and the floor also being compressed cow shit. Lucky the safezone is decent because you emphatically would not want to go to your car for lunch.

This is a particular dislike of mine. Relying on the hope that a player saw a social media post is just lazy and asking for trouble as not everyone uses social media, whether that's for airsoft or at all

Myself and a few chums attended Section 8 (not far from Glasgow)
A nice tribute to one of their regular players (maybe a marshal?) who had recently sadly passed was the start of the day.
The rain tried its best to dampen spirits, but it stayed warm and most of the days play was under the cover of woodland so it didn’t really affect us.
We had a cracking day, thoroughly shattered after it, as it’s a BIG site!
Also got the opportunity to meet @BigAl
A nickname that is earned, as he towered over me
For the first in a long time, I experienced no cheating or shouty behaviour from fellow players other than the usual boisterous banter.

Oh the tribute was to Ricky, the site owner. He was a solid guy, good chat and was very into keeping the hobby healthy. The marshal team there will keep the vibes good now he's gone.

S8 is a regular site for me and generally the standard of conduct is really good. It's very Woodland Airsoft but there's some areas that mix it up nicely.

I didn’t know him or who he was (or the owner)
The marshal team were clearly upset at his passing, I’ve seen a few posts on social media regarding him.
Clearly a much loved character who will be missed.

Yeah I'm actually quite sad I missed it. I heard it was a great tribute to the guy but sadly I had other things on at the weekend. Didn't know he had passed until the posts went up that evening.
