WellPro M249

Looks promising - their MCX Rattler was pretty good bar some people having issues with their ETU and that was DSG out of the box. Given the rate of fire, I can only guess that the 249 will be too. The Rattler was (IIRC) £180 and was very good for the price so i'm wondering how much this is going to be.

AFAIK the real issue with LMGs was the box mags not feeding/jamming up and gearbox durability so i'd like to see the internals and i'm also curious about this 'dual motor' setup. Has there been anything done like this before?

Adding on from that...

Dual motor is interesting but overall the design looks pretty good 🤔

What's the purpose (or benefit) of running a dual motor gearbox rather than just a single motor as used on most AEGs?
More brrrrrrt (35 RPS quoted) but as colin said... Both motors will need to be perfect for each other

I think the innovation is cool though..
  • Two ways of feeding it; box mag or stanag
  • Box mag is claiming to feed up to 80 rounds a second
  • Has a closed port for filling the mag so less BB's ending up where they shouldn't be
  • Box mag charges from a type c connector
  • And it's metal, most m249's that have came out recently have been polymer to save weight so it's nice there's some more realistic ones coming back on the market
  • And again, as Colin said - I think the finish looks quality on it tbh, looks very GWOT era M249 lol
It's listed at ¥86,000 with one retailer, which is about £400? A bit on the higher end but not terrible when the A&K retailed at £350 I believe?

We obviously have very different standards, I think the finish looks awful especially the plastic handguards. The gearbox is a potential recipe for disaster as well, especially at that fire rate

I think the colour is off because of the fluorescent lighting in the studio and if you watch the video again, see if you can spot the coke pinky :)

Looks like it's scheduled for January 2026 if anyone was interested but that's on a Japanese site so maybe a tad later for us?

I have just noticed that they state that you can run each motor off a different battery; that could really be fun!

I don't think it is about standards; the finish looks very close to real steel ones that I have seen.

Second this! I'm still trying to work out where the plastic is shiny as every image I've seen the finish looks matte like the real thing. I'd argue it looks better than the A&K, and definitely better than the cheaper clones like Specna/S&T

That's a really cool design (Image taken from:

), I'm glad it doesn't rely on both motors working at once but does give you that option as well. It's nice to see some innovation at last on an LMG platform. It also looks like it feeds upwards rather than from the side (Like the PKM/PKP) which I personally prefer

Where did you see that it can run on one motor?
