HPA or Gbbr

Hi guys, 

This is my first thread on here, have searched for a similar discussion but can’t seem to find one. So here goes! I’ve owned a krytac pdw for nearly a year now, and only played indoor cqb and a little at tac house( rip). And since the downgrade to run 11.1 lipos, it’s been faultless. But I’m now ready for a new gun and can’t settle On weather or not to Go hpa of gbb and maybe Evan next gen recoil. can anyone point out any pros and cons and pass on any past experiences. Any views on this matter would be greatly appreciated cheers!

for outdoors, especially in the colder months i'd say hpa is the more reliable platform and will have more consistent long range performance, but if it's exclusively indoors then tbh i'd rather take a nicely setup gbb subgun.

cqb is the one place i've found where the tank can be a bit annoying trying to squeeze through small places (not a problem outdoors) and the one usual killer for gbb- cold weather, doesn't apply indoors.

does your local site do hpa refills? because if they don't then i'd really be considering gbb very seriously.

I've only shot one briefly, and I liked it, but tippmann did an m4 (still do?) that runs hpa, which feeds into the actual gun, which takes aeg style magazines. Similar idea to daytona gun or escort. A friend had one for a while with no issues. 

Daytonas are a labour of love, probably not something to go for if you are inexperienced. 

I'd go and give an outdoor game a go first. I much prefer indoor cqb to anything else, it's more intense. 

There's a chance you won't like it as much, and then your decision is a bit easier.

Then you should consider a Tippmann M4.

They have a newer Ver.2 out now that improves on some of the teething problems of the Ver.1

My Tippmann was an absolute monster, and I loved it. Regret selling it if I'm honest. 

• Kicks really hard into the shoulder, and you can increase that recoil through various (easy to do) mods.
  
• Doesn't need a regulator on the tank because the gun self-regulates on the inside.
  
• And the noise of it firing, oh my word - I used to love tearing up The Mall with that thing!
  
• And it takes standard AEG Mags, Barrels and Hop Up Rubbers to make upgrading easy.
  

Definitely worth considering, especially as it's perhaps the most affordable HPA set up.

You can get the Gun, Tank and Line for just under £500 if you look around - even less for 2nd hand.

Also, for what it's worth - I used to get my Tank re-filled at a local Scuba Diving shop. think it was £4.00 a fill which was OK with me really.

The downside was that I had to buy a HPA Fill adapter for them to screw onto their air tank.

I did forget tipman, and I was around in the early 90’s when I used to do paintball and I saw a tipman firing auto, blew my mind lol!

really good advice though, and tbh, it seems like the right option, I’ve heard only good things about the tipman, but that only seems to be from people who own one. There does seem to be the general consensus that there a bit boring but I’m yet to understand this argument. And tends to be from people who have never actually owned one

I don't do much woodland so just for ease and low maintenance I went with a TM recoil. Did have a ghk pdw I ran for a while but it was just to inconsistent and didn't like the cold. TM recoil is no substitute for a good gbb rifle though. I just stick with mainly TM gbb pistols in cqb. If I where to delve in to gbbr again it would have to be a TM mws. I just personally find tanks and lines too limiting.

I love tm, and I run a hi cappa, and love it’s consistency and accuracy, but the Mws by tm looks absolutely flawless for a gbbr, almost eliminating cold weather issues that some gbbr’s have, and right out of the box seem good to go, just seen a review on you tube and my mind is almost made up.

You won’t regret it! I own two MWS and also a TM recoil. Love all of them, but the MWS is in a different league.

I can confirm the MWS is the dog’s danglies.
Spent all day out with mine today and it was flawless. It’s amazing fun to shoot and gets many admiring glances ?

I too can confirm that the MWS is an awesome platform! I am now have 2, a CQBR and a DMR. The cold weather issue can be taken care of with Black Gas etc and the majority of people that complain about GBBR's in cold weather are those that have never owned them (They were probably told by their 'Operator' friend and he knows everything as he is practically Special Forces, well he could be but he is too busy working as a tax auditor....) or people who haven't spent the time to understand their rifles and just given up.

GBBR is another level and once you try one you will know.

HPA or GBBR?

I have both. In the HPA world i have an M4 with Polarstar Fusion Engine, when i built it and ran it i though nothing could surpass it, then i played around with someones TM NGRS and realised that my gun as great as the shot to shot consistency was, as accurate as it was and as fast as the rate of fire was. Without recoil it felt like it had no soul.

I ended up getting a GHK M4and whilst nice, it did need tweaking so replaced it with a TM MWS which i absolutely freaking love, its everything my HPA system is apart from the lower rate of fire, but accuracy is on point as is shot to shot consistency but that kick is fun! Only issue with the TM MWS is lower ammo count, but i think that makes you a better player as you tend to better pick your shots rather than spray and pray.

I think if you play almost exclusively CQB then may be a TM MP7 GBBR might be a better option, its small, compact and is ideal for CQB.

As for Tippmans, i have never owned one so cannot comment on it.

I bought a TM mp7 a couple of months ago and it's a real blast indoors. Also a very accurate smg despite its small size.

Really appreciate all the reply’s I’ve had with this topic, and it has influenced me 100% to go for the tm mws , and tbh when I buy a gun I want the insides to stay original, barring wear and tear, so tm is king for me, as for the mp7 I’d love one but I own a pdw(krytac) at the minute so it has to be my cqb back up( as I do love it) but I reckon once ive tried gbb then I’ll end up

only buying gas tm,s.

I finally have my mws, I went for the slightly shorter barrel, cqbr block 1, and I absolutely love it, it’s on a totally different level, give me gas and air any day, no more aeg’s for me

@Jaxx - as someone who read this thread who was also wondering about a GBBR, thanks for coming back and saying what you did!

I got my MWS last week and it's a stunner - loving it! Hope you're having as much fun as I am with it.

Absolutely mate, it’s awesome, I believe it’s the way I see airsoft in its entirety, the feel of the recoil when fired and the kill when you hit someone(as long as they take it lol) there so accurate and consistent, still getting use to the mags, but it’s taken airsoft to the next level for me, and I’m really happy that this thread has helped you too, I think most airsofters get to a point where there ready to do something different, whether it be hpa gas or maybe recoil aeg, but I think there’s a lot of us that are moving from aeg to gas or hpa and the mws ticks many many boxes, and you never really here bad reports.
