I'm not sure what I can propose here, but I can restrict my threads from general questions for the sake of conversation to ones I personally need/want an answer to.
Separate from the how, what I desire (and no one is obligated to come along) is... simply put I feel like a skirmish is just the same as playing Call of Duty and that game gives me a headache.
Ok, so battlesims/milsims would be more down my street, fine, but we all know the main difference between them and a skirmish is the attitude of the players and the mindset that they bring.
I wish to think about ammo count, specific missions that the squad I'm in has to achieve, how I can make a half decent plan that might involve other squads.
I'm not saying how it can be done, I'm stating that it would be a nice option to have in the grand scheme of Airsoft.
I've recently started watching SEAL Team, long overdue, the planning that goes into each mission is interesting, that doesn't translate directly over to airsoft and most of the time you can't get a group together to practice anything and even then it will all fall apart but
I want the opportunity to fail.
But we all play for different reasons and I'm sure there will be many who just want to blast away, that's fine, I'll be right there with you.
I'd like to jump back to ammo count, I remember watching a video about a USMC fireteam leader and he said they have to consider if they have enough ammo before they engage a target. That is not a consideration in a skirmish, but anything that makes a player stop and think 2/3 steps ahead is a good thing.
I think all the profit in Airsoft is taken East and health/exercise is a key missing component, soon I think we might start to see the Athlete Airsofter.
Alphonse and Will regularly post updates on their visits to the gym, that must be getting a reaction of sorts, I'm going to check what kind of comments are being left.
Airsoft is far bigger than what we think, it's just very dispersed, Graham over to Airsoft Nation is doing great work with the App, you can check out an interview with him on the Chairsofter podcast. But we have a very long way to go, we're at the pong stage in gaming, there are so many innovations that we aren't struggling for new ideas. Then when we have exhausted that, AR, when it finally works well outdoors, will probably overtake all of that.
To sum up, I'm not talking about what I want to do, but what I want as a player.
