What grinds your gears on forums

It definitely gets worse when they ask you to message for more details or more pictures, as if the seller doesn't understand the burden lies with them.

Unless the seller is a masochist or if they have something to hide, why would they only provide more information about the gun privately and repeat themselves doing it?

Probably because they don't want the guy they bought it from the week before for a song popping up & saying "hold up mate, it was completely stock when I sold it to you the other day"

Or am I just a cynical old cnut ?

"Fully upgraded" but nowhere in the description does it state what is upgraded. If you can't be bothered to list what's been done to it, why should I bother to message you to find out? ?
In my experience, when someone claims “fully upgraded” it’s far from fully upgraded, they just lack the knowledge or inclination to realise that. The second option is they’re trying to scam people by selling something largely stock as “fully upgraded”.

For me it usually means "I spent a shit ton of money for a tech to rinse me for a bunch of parts that made it perform no better than stock BUT LOOK HOW PRETTY!!!!!"

"Fully upgraded"

Has the m90 spring replaced with a m110 on a QSC gearbox lol

Case in point was the chap selling what he claimed was a fully upgraded Ares Honey Badger yet he didn't know what had been upgraded internally. It was then pointed out to actually be a Double Eagle model and the "upgrades" he eventually listed were questionable.

I think he was duped from the person he bought it from originally and tried saving face by selling it on to recover some of his losses.

It's funny with GBBs because it'll be an MWS "fully upgraded" with terrible aftermarket parts and run worse than stock.

I might list a “fully upgraded” glock next week and see if I can hear the aneurism from @Austeyr across the country ?
Just make sure you include "full metal" in the description 😁

I just went on faceache and had a recommended post from the NAF. It was a post detailing what's ok for bbs, campfires and pyros and the number of dumb "but what about...."

questions was ridiculous

I am a newer member here but I have bought a few RIFs and had no real issues.

The biggest gripe for me are the listing's that don't have "collection only" clearly stated on the post.

Or they have "looking for a quick sale" but never reply to messages 🙄

As a former fellow marshal said "Consider how thick the average human is and then remember that 50% of them are thicker than average."

*quick sale* and *collection only* are typically two time waster flags for me. I don’t even bother messaging them.

It's probably happened on a forum at some point with someone else. I'm speaking from my own experience with a friend getting into airsoft and after getting his UKARA defence signed off.

The TLDR of it is that he asked for advice on where to get a specific RIF for around £300. I gave advice but he insisted he knew better and ignored it only for it to bite him square in the arse.

I gave a few options, suggesting one that was local albeit 10% more expensive but if something was wrong, he had the luxury of being able to travel less than an hour and return it in person and not be fobbed off on the phone/over email or worry about posting it and and being damaged in transit.

He went for the cheaper option, which was much further away but he rather smugly proclaimed himself to be a "shrewd shopper" and accused me of bias, favouring the local option as I had bought from that retailer it in the past. Out of the box, he said it didn't shoot straight as his shots went left of the target past 20m or so, so I suggested he first clean the inner barrel. Nope, he knew better and would push ahead. I suggested he may have to re-seat his hop but warned it may invalidate his warranty. He insisted on going on and if he had any more trouble, he'd return it and explain the fault.

We went on and played a skirmish where he said his gun jammed every so often then Sod's law happened as he dropped his gun on concrete and caused significant cosmetic damage. He thought to return it and I said there was a cat's chance in Hell that the retailer would accept it that condition with the magwell being cracked and the handguard having a dent and could deem the fall to have caused the fault he reported. He went on to check the return policy and not only was I right about accidental damage invalidating a return for a fault, he had left it too late after purchase anyway. I haven't been a total and utter bastard yet as I haven't said "I told you so" or that he wasn't as shrewd a shopper as he thought because he didn't consider the post-sale experience too. 😅

You can take a horse to water but can't make it drink it... LOL

As a previous comment has advised..

**collection only** and seeing it being re-listed, re-listed, re-listed.

Sending a message to advise interest in item and explaining I can see it having been re-listed many times annd happy to cover all postage costs. Then being ignored. And then seeing it re-listed again, and again and again…

It's so he can point to it as proof to the Mrs that has selling it all up but just...no one is biting.
