Don't get me wrong, I've no problem with the barrel sock rule, in fact I think its a great idea. My issue was with the marshal's attitude

Though it may be common for airsoft marshals to be unpaid volunteers this is a poor model for the airsoft industry, it’s more of the norm in paintball for Marshall’s and other staff to be employees.

This is the model we are stuck with. Airsofters bitch about greens as it is none of them would be willing to pay what it would cost to have a fully staffed up Airsoft site.

Mmm, and where is it on the Facebook page?  To be fair, they do have a player pack that mentions it, in horrible, barely readable shadow-text.  It also says that all guns must be "choro’ed", so make of that what you will.

Exactly. You'd think a rule like this would be made obvious rather than being hidden away

When I went I think there was a sign/s up too (maybe?).

But no argument if I had the experience Cf had I'd be turned off the place too.

I know what they mean to say in the air safety video ……: they could really have done with leaving out oil from  “Inspect your fill nipple for oil and wear” ….. only to later put up “Never use oil or grease on your air equipment”

I keep imagining someone sat at home, pausing the video to oil their dry fill nipple then starting up again to be told not to

Back on topic ……. All safety matters should be raised in the brief

I mean, when I was there the marshals couldn't id which ammo crate belonged to which team as they had no markings... So needing cameras....yeah, ick

Driver Woods is where I have played the most so far and I quite rate it. The save zone is very good (they have toilets that aren’t disgusting) and the playing area is good as well. 

The barrel sock rule was made quite clear I thought. 

I have never seen fights there but then I’ve only been going since last year. I would think the fight was out of the norm and certainly not common.

I've been a couple of times and it was fine. Found out about the sock rules on the day, but hired one from the shop, which works out free if you give it back. There was a bit of shouting on one of those days, but overall no real drama, nothing that might require camera, though this is only two days, and one player's perspective. 

As this is now the Driver Wood review thread, I can say I'm not elated by the play area (especially with how much money has been put into it) or the going back to the safe zone between games. Safe zone is good, food looked good, though service was VERY slow for a friend of mine, but he also hadn't pre-booked a meal. But imo the games aren't good enough for my to drive another half hour past my local site. However if friends were going and wanted me to join them, I wouldn't turn it down.

Barrel socks actually make a lot of sense, and they do need to be enforced without exception, because it's the people that aren't bothered by NDs that are the most likely to have them.

The issue is how that information is disseminated. If it's that important (and safe-zone safety is) then you can't leave it to Failbook posts (which I can't find), or tucking them away in a PDF that will be randomly read. I'll keep advocating for having big safety-critical signs on site that nobody can reasonably claim to have not seen.

It's one of my local sites, and generally my go-to site for the past few years - appears tighter run than several others that i have been to, and I do feel that my eyesight is somewhat safer there than in many other safe zones that I have experienced. The barrel sock rule always catches out people that go there first time, and I regularly hear the marshalls pointing it out to people and sending them to the shop to collect one for a deposit, but generally all well natured. It caught me out the first time I went there - and prompted me to sew up a load of them over the next week or so after. To be fair to them, they regularly remind people about the requirement over the (slightly annoying at times) speaker system too.

I've been there approx twice per month for a few years - only ever spotted agro once with players shouting at each other (Why? What's the point? If people are getting that het up and aggressive in their play that everything matters THAT much, they probably need to take a long hard look at themselves and choose a weekend hobby that is more suited to their temperament such as trolling B list celebrities on twitter or something), and that time I saw the marshalls doing a pretty good job of de-escalating in a friendly manner.

I quite like the owner actually - definitely has opinions about things, and I certainly don't always share those opinions. But that's fine, and indeed, that's life... I find it nice that he cuts about the safe zone, asking people how they are getting on, providing advice to the newbies, and generally being present. Not something that all owners do...

My grip, was mostly due to the length of game with little in the way of gameplay...sure wet days need a touch more grace but still it's the time between games and the allowed bombing up time.

It was the "your lucky we are using the whole site for this game" but what that game needed was a little more focused area. 

I will go back in the summer to give it another go, but on wet days I'll head somewhere else

I think we've got our answer then, clearly it was for social media to push the "look at us, we're a professional site with our marshalls with cameras" agenda, which is clearly a crock of shit.

Wasn't this the same site where someone left a rifle (with guncam fitted) on the floor & someone else walked all over it accidentally on purpose ?.

& then a now defunct member here, a usually particularly argumentative twat, tried to defend what happened ?.

It was around that time I crossed that site off my list of places to try.

Can't remember his username,  just that while everyone who'd seen the vid was in agreement the body language indicated he'd seen the gun before walking on it at least twice ?(I think), this guy argued otherwise.

Anybody else remember it ?
