M1911 Full Auto Guide

May I present to you my handy little guide for modifying your M1911 GBB pistol into a fully automatic monstrosity.

The pistol I have used for this guide is a WE M1911 MEU, but the principle of the mod should remain the same for other 1911 variants and probably other GBB's too.

 

 

The first problem I encountered was that when the trigger was pulled with the slide locked back, the hammer would press against the underside of the slide and prevent the slide from moving forwards when the release was pressed. To remedy this I clipped a few coils off of the hammer spring, here's how:

 

Remove the rear part of the grip by pushing the block itself upwards a little and pushing out the locking pin.

 

 

Next, remove the small pin from inside the block that holds the hammer spring in place. Be careful as the spring may shoot out.

 

 

Clip a coil from the spring and reassemble the gun, if this doesn't work, clip a second coil off. DO NOT clip more than two coils from the spring or the hammer will be slack and may not work properly.

 

On to the actual mod. Remove the slide, grips, safety and release catch spring housing from the gun. If you don't know how to do this then you shouldn't be attempting this mod, seriously.

 

 

 

Remove the upper screw from the assembly that houses the hammer, do not remove the flat head screw as it holds a spring in place that is quite fiddly to fit back in. Then remove the housing and grip safety. Remove the three internal parts that are loose, these are the hammer, the catch that secures the hammer and the plate that disengages the trigger. This last piece is what causes the trigger to disengage when the slider is racked, the hammer pulled back, or when a shot is fired. Without this piece the hammer will not lock back into place when a shot is fired and the gun will instead fire continuously until the trigger is disengaged manually, when you let go of it for example . The slider will still lock back when the magazine is empty.

 

 

This is the part that disengages the trigger, leave it out when reassembling the gun.

 

 

Now you need to affix something to the back of the trigger mech that will allow the trigger to operate without the disengage plate. Some may frown upon this but here I have used a length of paperclip bent into a U shape which was then bent around the metal of the trigger mech and crimped in place.

 

 

Carefully reassemble the gun and test it. I would recommend using an empty magazine and holding the slide release catch down with your thumb the first time, just to make sure.

 

 

Now enjoy your hand held BB hose. Oh, and you might want to brush up on speed reloading if you own a WE or Socom gear MEU, you can only get 15rd magazines for them .

Does this make the firing controllable or does it just empty the mag?

It's controllable.

but the rate of fire isn't consistent and if you fire more than a few in a burst the fps falls dramatically.
