Scorpion evo hop unit

I've got a spring poking out of what I'm guessing is the hop unit of my scorpion evo. Has my hop unit just shat itself? 

 

Assuming that is what it is, what do people think are good aftermarket hop units? Or should I just stick with the stock plastic asg evo unit?
