Ignoring Ares' less than desirable repuation, it's cheap because the HPA engine & gearbox assembly were manufactured to keep costs down so you lose a few features compared what you'd usually see from Wolverine or PolarStar.

 

It uses a low-cost solenoid and its delay can't be adjusted so your firing rate is capped (no wanker guns on a budget).

 

You can't fine tune the volume of air inside your inner barrel to suit its length either (fixed dwell) so you have to rely solely on the pressure from the regulator to control the muzzle energy while being conscious of joule creep.
