madmogga
I am after a little advice and help please on my DMR build. I am running a ICS CXP MARS DMR, I have nearly finished the build and took it to my local range to test the set up so far and it is running very nice at around 445 fps (just under my site limit) with only 2-3 fps variations, my local range is only about 45 feet and indoors, on testing I was hitting a 1 inch square 8 times out of 10 with the two missed shots only just off target I would say all 10 shots within a 1.1/2 inch grouping, I have installed a Prometheus 6.03 455mm barrel with maple leaf bucking and was planning on to r-hop once I was happy everything else was ok however going on the accuracy I am getting I am now unsure if I should bother to r-hop, also on the barrel I only have a 6mm window and have read that this is too small and should file the barrel out to 8mm. what are your thoughts should I leave it alone or is it worth now doing the r-hop to get the extra range and if so should I file the barrel window or is that just to risky to do by hand ? Hangtight
Nothing wrong with R hopping 6 mm window barrels. Don't waste money on the kits either. Just buy yourself a metre of EPDM 6mm bore auto hose and you'll be set for years for about 4 quid. If you're get enough hop up with the Maple Leaf and decent, heavy BBs then you won't see much improvement with an R hop. However, once you start shooting at range, if you find you're having to wind on a lot of hop to get a decent flight then the R hop while be a significant improvement as it's a lot more efficient at imparting back spin.
