Unrustle_Thine_Jimmies
This is probably one of the best days I've had at a skirmish, this cannot be compared to the old kid oriented place I used to go to! It's on the R173 in county Louth, close to the northern border. If you are near, pop around! worthwhile visit. More info can be found on their website: http://airsoft.bellurganpark.ie/ They mainly focus on large scale milsim events but they have been irregularly holding smaller skirmish games roughyl every 2 weeks. Make sure to call ahead before visiting! On this particular day there was about 30 people, there are usually more. Note,Bio BBs can only be used on site! Things I liked: The site itself. it's 390 acres large(Though only in play for large scale milsims) Of woodland and field. Plenty of structures, well put together. Lots of hills, choke points and areas good for ambushes. Although we only had a smaller area in play, there was still plenty to trudge through! Vehicles! They used a Toyota Hilux 'gun truck' to transport us to the forest which is a good distance away from the safe zone, which is a cool abandoned farm. It feels awesome hopping in and out of the truck! Cheap! Only 10 euro for entrance,10 euro for bio BBs if you need them. Good value for money, started at roughly 10.30 and ended at 3.30 about 4 hours of gametime with breaks in between. Objective based games, kills were not recorded! No Identification tags for teams, you must rely on knowing your team! Can turn into a bit of a clusterfuck but it's really fun. Rules are simple and Marshalling was good, even with only two marshals. Most of the players were very honorable and very little cheating was going on. Things I did not like: Bio BBs only,I can understand this but it's hard to find bios in heavier ammo so I had a hard time hitting people with my BASR. The game day First off it started as a simple attack defense game. First up a hill to attack a radio outpost, two games for both teams. Next, downhill to attack a small base which was elevated at the rear,It's intense climbing up rocks and such to flank up fro behind, also two games. Next,we moved to a village, which was built of sheds and other small structures, including a watchtower and a sign reading 'We want boobs not war!' First game in the Village was called 'King of the Village' It was a free for all, only 1 life. Players must fight inside the village and enter the sheds to use as cover. When the marshals called 'Gas,gas, gas' all players must get out of the sheds before the 3 calls of gas are over,or else they are eliminated. Fun little game! there were two rounds of this game. After that, two rounds Counter-Strike style 'plant the bomb' games, only the bomb was hidden in a random spot. One team had to plant the bomb in the village, the other had to dispose of it. Probably my favorite along with domination. Next was a deathmatch with only 1 life, last man standing wins. I could not be found and the game had to be called(Even though I was only 10 or so meters from the village!) so maybe I unofficially won Second round of it did not go well for me,though. Finally, there was a domination game, with a large bound area, one team had to control the village watchtower for a certain amount of time. Two teams have infinite re spawns, start around 30m from the village. They duke it out until the village is captured. Also two round of this as with all games. Eventually there was a break and then the day was over. I can safely say the whole group was knackered. Cheers for Paul & Mark for holding such a great day! Highly recommend, fantastic site. Has a very survival-y and even a vietnam kind of feel to it,really depends on the game day. I'm yet to visit a milsim they held, but I'm sure it will be soon enough!
