Dadasaheb Phalke's attempt to create an animated sequence using matchsticks in the mid-1930s was legendary. Reminisces veteran Ram Mohan, currently CEO of Graphiti Multimedia, "The business of creating animation was laborious then and still is, except that the tools for animating have changed today." He goes on to explain how Cartoon were made back in the early years, "Since there were no computers, we drew pictures frame-byframe on individual papers and translated them to celluloid. Each cell was painted by hand and placed against a coloured background. Using a camera, we would then shoot one frame at a time."
