So I just bought a 4 pack of these radios.

Now Im having a problem finding a headset that fits.

I want a headset that looks similar to an element Comtac style headset.

I know nothing of radios to be honest and most of the headsets I see have some weird 2 pin

plug. One smaller one bigger. What is that supposed to fit?

From what I see I only have 1 headphone jack by for example my iphone headphones dont fit in there

so it cant be a 2.5mm like they say it is.

Do you guys have a recommendation as well as a PTT that will work well with this radio?

Cheers

There isn't a specific headset available for the Cobra radios, although Maplins do a 2 into 1 converter that works with a 2 pin Motorola or Midland remote PTT switch. However, the converter isn't made for the Motorola pins but is for a Midland two pin one, so you need to cut through the converter to remove some of the plastic to allow the Motorola pins to fit. Then you need to swap the wires in the PTT, as they are different connections in the Cobra's to those of the Motorola. Not sure about the Midland - they may be correct. Once you've done all that you also need to add a small piece of O ring (about 2mm) to the converter single pin that goes into the radio, as the pin itself is too long and if inserted too far will put the radio on to permanent SEND once you turn it on.

There may be a easier route using Midland instead of Motorola but I didn't see a Midland one available when I bought mine, although there is now, so you wouldn't need to butcher the converter, but as I've already got my bits I don't particularly want to change mine now.

Something like these will work together if you do the alterations:

Do you think this combo would work?

Cobra MT975

Headset:

Plus, I have no idea what you just said :D I dont even know which cable does what. Not even gonna start on opening stuff and rewiring.

The headset might work, as it has a standard military plug, but I doubt the PTT will, as the single 2.5mm plug will be wired differently for the Motorola than for a Cobra (basically the connections for loudspeaker and mic are different). If you found a PTT for a Midland then that "might" work, but never having checked it myself I can't be sure. However, if you could find an old style radio shop near you they might be able to rewire the PTT to match the Cobra connections for you.
