Back in the late 80's early 90's I bought my first Airsoft pews from a toy shop in Arbroath High Street, all were springers.

I'm sure my first was an L85A1, followed by another L85A1, over the next couple of years they were joined by a 1928 Tommy gun & an M1A1, a few pistols, M16's, AK's and some other bits n bobs.

My first AEG was a TM Famas from Wonderland Toys in Ediburgh (apparently the first AEG ever).

My collection grew when I got a deactivated Mk1 Bren from a place in the Angel Islington.

There were no legal restrictions at the time but in 1996 the Dunblane massacre happened, I was living a few miles away and guilt of my hobby hit me hard & I surrendered all my collection to Perth Police (all were 100% legal), I guess your first love never really leaves you and now I have a new collection.

This pic is from around 1993/4

How did you get started?

I helped a mate move a few years ago, as a thank you he offered a game of airsoft “dressed up in camo running around the woods shooting BB’s at your mates”. Sounded perfectly bonkers at the time and now confirmed as completely bonkers.

Played a few games with his spare kit until I had enough under my belt for UKARA, he only played once a month and I wanted more so bought my own kit. Wanted my first to be special and something I would keep for as long as I play so bought a Cyma Platinum MP5 and went full Die Hard with its set up / parts, it’s been upgraded since and is an absolute monster on the field.

Now have a small collection, think 5 MP5’s including a couple of GBB’s a couple of AK’s a filthy RPK 16 and a G3 DMR. Dragged a couple of other mates along and lent them my spare kit and they are now invested albeit not as deeply as me, yet.

Enjoy the game and been branching out into CQB and looking for a longer mil sim type game when the spring comes.

I wasn't allowed airguns or anything like that when I was a kid. Dad was ex military, so I grew up around firearms and military vehicles. Shot my mates airguns though. Parents promised to let me join the local gun club when old enough but I lived near hungerford when that idiot went on a rampage, and it put them off. I brought my own airguns soon as I moved out and built up quite a collection. I shot in clubs and local permissions. I used to buy broken or damaged guns and restore them and sell them on or break them and sell the bits on ebay. Only shot targets, nothing with fur or feathers. I then added a pile of paintball guns to the collection, but never went to a proper game. Last summer my family went to a tank show in Leicester and me and the lad shot some Airsoft rifs, he showed interest so I sold and swapped most of my airguns to build up a collection of rifs and joined a couple of clubs.
Probably only been scirmishing 10 times, but we definitely hooked. My eyesight limits my enjoyment, but I love the collecting side of it. I definitely get shot more than I shoot others.
We've 16 rifs. And I'm sure we will get more soon.

I guess it was inevitable as i was given/lent an air rifle at 12/13 then joined a gun club at 15 & my Mum bought me a 22 target rifle (in her name of course)

Forgot a couple of Gat's from the local hunding/fishing shop.

I remember when airguns were in the Littlewoods catalogue. 😆
My first rif was a Poseidon thesis, he claimed it immediately calling it an early birthday present.

I've yet to pick a direction for our collection, I think I'd like to go more UK military in the future. The sten looks cool. I'd love an Uzi too.

I was eying up a NE Sten the other day but have a replica Mk2 already, maybe another model in the future.
There was one in the classifieds here the other day, I was so tempted.
I want to upgrade the ones I've got here first tho. Get them all working perfectly. My cyma mp5 needs some work, it's really screaming and noisy

Nope he gave em an excuse to take semi auto rifles after his 8 hour rampage through Hungerford in 87. Handguns was Thomas Hamilton’s vile school shooting in 96.
I won't argue, I was only a kid when it happened. Mum used to drive thru there on her way to work everyday. She was freaked out.

My first airguns were a Webley nemesis and a weihrauch 97. Still own the rifle, sold the pistol.

Got dragged out by my mates to try something new as I was being mopey over the breakdown of a long term relationship. Turns out shooting replica AKs was better than anti depressants. Over a year I've managed to collect a lot of rusfor kit and replicas as our local fields are very multicam heavy and someone needs to be the opposition. Also managed to use Airsoft as a motivation to shed 7 stone and improve my fitness. Definitely need an M4 and some mm-14 camo next. Then maybe a grenade launcher. And some night vision. And a few more AKs.....

We need the clothes and kit too, but I need to stop spending 1st. I like having lots of supplies, there's at least 20 tubs of bbs upstairs and more in the post.
