Well Socom Tactical won't ever be getting my money again!

I guess I must be lucky to have found a couple of well run sites which are within a reasonable distance. There's a few which I definitely wouldn't go back to if they paid me though and if they were the only ones available I probably would've quit

Sadly, the universe dealt me the latter option.

Still, i like hanging around on the forums for the community, help folks out with tech querys when i can. Reminds me of what kept me in so long.

And another occasion where some teenager is watching it dreaming of when they can buy their own kmcs ghillie and get them leet headshots.

Sadly i dont see any solution other than to have another voice in the room pointing out that our game of toy soldiers is just some stupid shit we do for fun of a weekend. an excuse to touch grass and have a bit of a laugh.

You want to hurt people for a hobby then find a different hobby or preferably a therapist.

I suppose this tirade has me re-thinking the original point of this thread, maybe we do want to encourage km's acolytes to rock up in his branded gear, makes it easier to tell when its time to bugger off somewhere else because the game day is about to be ruined.
I’ve had this with fully grown men. We’re a bunch of adults playing with toy guns. Have a breather. Chill.

Unfortunately "fully grown" is only physical and not mental. Too many adults out there with teenage or even childish mentality. (And sometimes it's the marshalls, not the players.)

Took me a few years out to realise this, no doubt had i stayed in the petty bullshit would still have consumed me.

The internet has allowed us all to find whatever we want. For most people the constant confirmation bias has made them more entrenched and certain of whatever their (our!) views.

In entertainment people can supply content like KM's and it finds an audience. Because we feel that what he puts out will damage our sport, we get upset. angry, offended etc. KM only feeds off of the attention and friction.

Perhaps all we can do is to try and keep things exposed to us much light and as little heat as possible. Most people respond to reason one to one. Most people will react to being shown a different point of view if they've got no echo chamber. It's a new technological form of an age old problem.

i disagree somewhat , we all agree calling out bad actors when on site ,i think people are a little afraid to stand on principles, if the government allows the retailers a defence and to self police so should the people that participate in the hobby

Exactly, to KM and his fans, the people who are Anti-KM are the bad guys, the ones showing hate, etc. he has enough of a platform and a large enough following to dictate the story. The more hate thrown at him just gives him more ability to turn it into content and keep the us-vs-them mentality going.

The reality is that drama sells. That's why news outlets often focus on the negative, it gets attention. A lot of the hate directed at him becomes content because it generates views, clicks, and comments from both supporters and critics.

It's the same tactic you see on Facebook pages posting clickbait or deliberately contradictory takes. The goal isn't necessarily to inform people; it's to stir emotions, spark arguments, and drive engagement.

I agree after the comma but disagree before it. The internet has created something new. It's created a democratised tool, often misused to spread humanity's warts.

True but the internet, and social media in particular, has given them the ability to monetise their bullshit. The "wellness" industry is a prime example of this.

Thats my point, we always had those, there's just fewer barriers to them having massive reach now
We always had them, but they now have that far greater reach and can attract a following among the gullible, the ignorant, the stupid and those who have a need to believe in conspiracy theories and pseudoscience for whatever reason, and they can use that reach to generate income. For example, the Tartaria nonsense is very much a phenomenon of the internet age.

They could before; selling books, doing tours, or the bonkers shit John Harvey Kellog got up to.

From a quick google, wikipedia has Tartaria starting in the 70's, which tbf is pretty modern given the usual suspects for starting that sorta crap are the Victorians or the Nazi's.

for the record, i'm not that invested in winning anyone over with this debate but the back and forth is amusing.
