The Zuckerpurge Has Begun

Lol, I got banned by one, merely because I objected to some ridiculous comments, some of which potentially put Airsoft at risk legally, the response was to verbally attack me en masses, one guy even said I was a dolphin rapist FFS, bang, next thing I'm banned before I could respond.

To say they're retarded would be an understatement ?

This is what pisses me off, they ban you and there’s seemingly no fact finding or any kind of attempt to figure out what’s gone on, poxy algorithms I guess!

Thankgod it's gone.... I left the group as the most common post was about "best antifog goggles/glasses"... I first started to reply with some wisdom..but when you keep seeing new posts about the same thing and people can't be bothered to check previous posts...Ugh.

Such good news....Occasionally you'd come across a useful bit of information but it's search functionality always felt like it was an after-thought.  It's not a platform geared towards information storage.  As for the sponsored and suggested posts every 2 normal post, no thank you...

No I think this was actually the page admin, seemingly as the idiots far outnumbered me, much easier to get rid of me than educate the majority of cockwombles on the page lol.

To be fair, shortly afterwards I took myself off of a few more pages, every other bs post was triggering me ?

I got banned from UKAC for making a joke about a guys Nazi SS loadout.

Apparently saying it was:

"The final solution to hit taking" was enough for an instant ban lol

Indeed it was. Got to hand it to him, it takes skill and perseverance to get banned by every single airsoft forum. I believe he started his own as a result and it all went a bit L Ron Hubbard..
Didn't we both get banned from Arnies for stating the bleeding obvious on one occasion? Which is ironic as it was a fellow DolphiN who set it up in the first place.

'The final solution' is a term which we do not use in my line of work. In fact it's an unwritten rule not to say that...

Yes. I read the Labour Party 2005 election Manifesto and found a minor piece of legislation buried in it about restricting the sale of replica guns to under 18s. I posted a link to it and got banned for Trolling.

Facebook groups are easier for speshul people to find though.

Although groups like SniperWorks or the MK23/Striker/Specna(to an extent) ones are good, a bit repetitive in questions asked but that happens in here as well (wat am bset gnu type threads).

Forums all day, posts are more thought out and the moderation is much more manageable. Plus they have an additional method to filter idiots: registration.

You have no idea how many people are being put off by a simple "insert email and create password" page.

I have to say, FB is the main reason the major Italian forum died. Apart from the extra registration step, the answers given were more sensible than the ones I kept reading on the various groups/pages.

I guess kids didn't like that.

Can't understand why people persist in trying to resurrect the FB Airsoft groups that keep getting closed down, new variants on a name etc won't change the fact that FB opposes anything that relates to guns, even toy ones, & half the population of said FB pages are juvenile cockwombles that can't follow the simplest of rules.

The sensible members need to give up flogging a dead horse & migrate back to the forums such as this one.

As for the cockwombles, they can just fuck off full stop ?.
Because despite all their outrage at Facebook's content policies and general social statements, it's far too robust for many not to build their online lives around. There are people on there out of necessity but there are a lot more who are in denial about Facebook's value to them. If you're ostensibly "only on there to keep in touch with auntie dorris" then why are you active in 30 different hobbiest groups?

It goes without saying that they are very welcome here and many of our best posters also post on FB groups, but don't expect a sudden surge of people opting out of Facebook and signing up to forums. The kinds of people who browse both have already been here for some time.

Theres a lot of almost societal demand for someone to have a facebook prescence, as if somehow not being on facebook means your not a real person.

Twitter too, i work in a uni and not having a twitter account basically makes you a ghost.

I'm back on Facebook due to the fact that some airsoft sites will only post their events on there.

It's scary the power and influence that social media has over us. I remember when smart phones first came out, at the time I used to take the train to work. I remember getting on the packed carriage and noticing that everyone had their heads down in complete silence and it was so surreal to see then however sadly now its just the norm. You've made a valid point of people feeling that they need a presence, a voice and to show others what / how their doing and its quite un-nerving as to how Orwellian everything seems to be going.

On top of that, the riots in America (a whole other thread I'm sure) how many in that footage brandishing smart phones and checking what's on their screen more than their actual eyes. Truly frightening and something to keep an eye on.

**Eh herm Airsoft**

Thats basically the sole purpose of my account.

Its kinda scary how many people do a double take these days when you tell them you dont have facebook (yes i have a ghost account for checking sites but i aint for giving it out to folk), its almost like if you arent on facebook you arent a real person.

I think @proffrink has a very solid point. Seems to be that for the everyman facebook does pretty much everything in one place just well enough that they cant be arsed going elsewhere to get their information from better platforms.

Tbh i kinda reckon i'm lucky to be just old enough to have matured the ability to distinguish real life from internet life before this all became mainstream.

Facebook then, Instagram now.

If your IG isn't full of pictures from vacations, you are a sad cunt with no social life.

Sad, really fucking sad if you ask me.

It's where I get the most info on airsoft stuff from.

Every company has moved over there for their advertisements and updates on R&D -.- mostly because their FB pages get zucced a lot because of gun shaped objects in pictures.

i kind of subscribe to the general theory that any announcement big enough that i want to pay attention to is going to filter its way to me eventually.

or in shorter form, i like it under my rock, i have all the dank just how i like it :P

I find I join a particular group because something has spiked my interest, but I'll soon tire of it & get rid of said page.

A good example, mini/monkey bikes, in the summer I passed a convoy of about 40 of them, all "grown" men lol, being a biker myself I'm like "wtf is that about" & promptly joined a couple of pages, which I see occasionally on my feed, & TBH I've come to realise it's just little bikes, pointless for most uses, so I'll get rid of the pages anytime soon.?
